Problem with Trainstore with Windows 7

Post by spionkop »

Hi everyone

I have my trainsim installed in a folder called Trainsims/1msts. I have installed Trainstore v3.2 and also updated it with the Windows 7 version into Trainsims folder. When I try to run an activity I get the following message:
Windows cannot find 'C:\1msts\TRAIN.EXE'. Make sure you typed the name correctly. and then try again.
Then I click OK then I get this
The specified file was not found.
I have run the trainsim out of train store with no problem. Would appreciate help please.

Regards
Steve

Hi Steve,

Firstly, there is no problem with Train Store and Win7.

I assume that you are running MSTS from Train Store?

>I have my trainsim installed in a folder called Trainsims/1msts
>Windows cannot find 'C:\1msts\TRAIN.EXE

You have not configured Train Store correctly to point to the train.exe file.

train.exe is at c:\Trainsims\1msts\train.exe

You need to change the settings within Train Store at tools | MSTS launch settings to c:\Trainsims\1msts\train.exe

Cheers

Well that appears pretty normal behaviour from Windows to me.

You installed MSTS to Trainsims/1msts I would hope that is actually Trainsims\1msts - note the difference in the / and \

Trainstore is looking for it at C:\1msts\TRAIN.EXE

In Trainstore you specify in the options where MSTS is installed.

It would appear that you have told Trainstore to look at C:\1msts\TRAIN.EXE when you have in fact installed it to Trainsims\1msts

Darn - Engmod beat me to it !

Hi Engmod and John

Thanks for your quick response. Yes you are right, it’s that is the problem.
I’ve gone in to the tools and MSTS launch parameters. The path does say C:\1msts\TRAIN.EXE. I would have thought that in the Parameters part is where you change it to what it should be. But all it tells me is that it is invalid. So how do I change it to the correct path?

In the Tools > Options menu of Train Store you can modify all sorts of things including the folder path MSTS is installed in.

No problem - the moderators always prefer to help people rather than being seen to be always kicking behinds.

Glad you got it working now.
