n863dwt - I keep giving you gentle prods to use thread titles that mean something so forum members know what you are talking about before they open the thread. I've been reasonably polite so far and you still ignore me. Do please PLEASE (that's a polite PLEASE) use thread headings/titles that DESCRIBE or otherwise give a clear indication of, your thread's topic.

If you don't, I'll just ignore all threads authored by you.

So u post topics for the benefit of urself? 'Posting what u mean' basically says u post topics without any consideration for those who may read it. Nice attitude.

no cos he posts topic that are worth posting. uve made 4 topics out of one. Simply by taking bits from that one topic and spreading them over 4.

Please stop reposting topics that can quite easily stay as one. Stop posting random titles. Its getting on more than just Saddletanks nerves.

And while im on the subject, its come to my attention that ur signature is simply an advert for Virgin Radio. Including their promotional offers.

Well, at least you should change the title to "HST Creators" or something similar.

look, and read... "say thank you to the nice HST men and women"
in place of
"say thank you to the nice men and women"

Look AND read Before you post a reply.

I think you lot are just a load of whinging, pedantic Tospots. Why don't you go and find something decent to protest about like war, 3rd world debt, animal experiments or rail privatisation, and leave this poor bloke alone.

The title is not descriptive of the content, but then not many are. If you read the first line of the post it says what it's about.

If you had a valid point then I would be more than willing to back you. But really, no wonder some people blommin' trainspot....

I'm inclined to agree with you here, though Saddletank has every right to ask n863dwt to be a little more specific in his/her titles, and did it politely.

When browsing these forums, i notice that certain people continually post replies that criticise in some way or another, and this is starting to get on my nerves too.

n863dwt - I'm sure you're able to be a little more specific in your post titles, it won't hurt anyone. At a guess, i'd say the main reason you do not complain about Saddletank's posts is that you do not have a reason to.

LucaZone - Personally, i don't think you should be criticising n863dwt's attitude, as you could be a little nicer in the way you put your point across.
Cheers,

Quite right Rob. The petty things people get worked up about. How long does it take to open a thread and read through - all of 30 secs? If your not interested press the back button on your browser!
There are times when this site can become a little too much about method rather than content (....a little like 19th Centuray Christology (guess what I'm studying!))
This is the 'General Discussion' part of these forums. Perhaps in another forum this would be out of place, but here??
If people wish to not read a thread because they don't think the title is specific enough - thats fine. Plus does it really matter if topics appear or are posted in several different places. This is not an academic discussion forum, where things need to be specificly catogrised. It's where we chatter about trains in a general way
Lets start enjoying this site rather than sniping each other - this sort of thing really puts people off getting involved, let alone posting.

in my view, if you have nothing nice to say then don't say anything. saddletank did ask nicely but i am inclined to wonder why lucazone constantly picks on n863dwt. this is meant to be a fun place where we can share a common interest and have a laugh. at the moment people seem to be over-critical and often i see comments that could be taken as bullying depending on your outlook. i have watched in silence up until now and i think you should both settle your differences and get on with enjoying these fantastic facilities provided by matt and the guys. remember-if you have nothing nice to say...

N863DWT sent me a very amusing PM out of this - full of four letter words and personal abuse. I have passed it on to Matt to contact him.

He did point out that nothing in this site's rules for posting mention the need for a clear thread title, but the site does not have to specify this: For those who don't know it is basic internet etiquette when posting in forums to use a clear thread title so that those not interested can move on. Those who don't do so are selfish and ignorant, those who don't support the convention are just ignorant.

Thank you Rob, that really helped advance the discussion.
