Hi Doug,
You should get the CD mate, easy install and all the stock and activities included.

Although, if I remember correctly the Cornish Riviera Express act is a download.

all the best,
Terry.

No response from Ziggy Stardust yet. :o

Hi Terry,
No disrespect here, but with the download I will not get stock and acts I probably would not run,
and will more that likely have period stock in my Trainset already for downloaded Acts.
Changing stock is a doddle with Activity Analysis. If I am stuck for something to do that's what I'll do.

Maybe Ziggy does not have subscribe topic set does not know we replied or can not be bothered to come back. :( Worth noting.

Good luck
Doug

Well he's not visited since making the original post - looks like he's just interested in having a little rant & not that bothered about finding a solution :o

Not sure if it's a setting in my profile; but "notify me of replies" is always selected by default though?

Hi Doug and Geoff,
We'll carry on this thread without him then.

O.K. Doug I'll take the pressure off trying to get you to get Padd2Penz---I'll release your arm from up your back. :D :D

Do your railway interests lie elsewhere i.e. not the GWR? (serious question).

cheers,
Terry.

P.S. I don't think P2P is available for download.

A bit more on Paddington-Penzance.
As in real life it is a long journey. Some parts of the route are excellently modelled (such as Brunel's Royal Albert Bridge) but there are long stretches with virtually no variety. If you like the driving and are not worried about the scenery it is first class. If you are into scenery then parts of the route are first class. And the visit to the Swindon works is a little gem.

Hi Terry,
OK. Phew!
Well my railway interests regarding modelling are what would have run on British Railways from 1948 up to the Corporate Change 1968. So includes tatty war ravaged Big Four stock although road vehicles and infrastructure set the scene at around the mid fifties. Nothing strange or different, governed by the availability of models and pocket money at the time, around the late sixties early seventies.( I started my truck driving career in '71 on Coop Laundry Van Sales)
The vast majority of my rolling stock is 25 to 30 years old from when I had a spare room and the chance to build a Model Railway.
It all still runs. There is some classic stuff like the Triang Railways Blue Pullman and some of the original Arifix Electric locos. So none of it gets butchered as it is now worth a bit.
Really I suppose I just like building and running stuff but try to keep it coherent. I won't put locos in a yard with road vehicles that were not built 'til after the loco was withdrawn. Although tere is always the great cop-out modellers license.
Since we move to the Island, the layout is still boxed up. It will be reinstated as and when. I do have newer models but still from the '48 '68 period.

As I said my MSTS simming follows the same criteria.

Good luck
Doug

Hi Doug,
That's very interesting, thank's for sharing.
I sold my train set about 1978, it was Triang/ Hornby OO/HO, It was only a small collection-Princess Elizabeth + 3 and a tank loco with goods wagons, two loops of track ( on an 8 x4 base), station, goods shed etc plus some 'lickle' people to stand on the station!!!!

Most of my track was that grey stuff, is your's? My tank engine had 'smoke' do you remember that, put a drop of the special oil down the chimney and off it went like a proper Puffing Billy. :D :D

What was the corporate change in 1968? That was the year I started work on the railway.!!

all the best,
Terry.

Still no sign of Ziggy. :o :o

Hi Terry,
The 1968 corprete change was when British Railways became British Rail and every thing that could have blue paint slapped on it became blue,Blue Loco's and all blue for local coaches and MU's,blue grey for mainline coaching stock and MU's,it coincide with the end of steam.
Also TOPS started so Loco's lost their D and E prefixes and had Cl numbers IE 47 or 86.

WOW! Series3 track. That is like gold dust now for classic collectors.
No, all my visible layout Trackage and Pointwork is Peco Streamline SL 100. I use modern Set Track (Hornby System 6 and newer) in hidden areas to maintain the rail profile. Series 3 and Super 4 was chunky stuff.
The first "Train Set" I bought was the Freghtliner with the blue Hymek and manual container crane. Which had the System 6 Track any way.

Smoke, good gimmick very cleverly done with the little piston, driven from the loco wheels, pressurizing the smoke, it is still on some locos to day.

Good luck
Doug

Hi Michael and Doug,
Thanks for that info Mike, was the new British rail symbol brought in at that time as well??

Doug, it's good to hear that smoke idea was such a good one that it's still in use today. :) :)

all the best,
Terry.

Hi Mike,
I live at Red Beach, at the land end of the Whangaparaoa peninsula, that is 40 kilometres north of Auckland on the east coast.

It gets quite windy down in Wellington where your cousin lives, did she tell you Wellington is known as the Windy City.!!!

all the best,
Terry.
