Hi,
Welcome back to MSTS. I have an RW icon, but it doesn't get used much.

( Now, there wasn't anything defamatory about that, was there? )
You need the patches from the MSTS site, and the bin patch from the MSTS 'hotpicks' link on the UKST home page. You may need to update your Global Tsection to V41. If you need help with any particular route,
just ask.
Regards

Not sure what you mean by this but lets just say that over 10 years the development of routes, stock and features renders MSTS totally unrecognisable from the initial installed version. I too have a rarely used RW icon and I have to say that although the possibilities of the RW graphics engine are obviously better it doesn't follow that what's been created using it is better. If you look at the latest routes and stock for MSTS I think you'll find that it's more a case of "horses for courses" rather than a distinct "leader". Trouble is there's SO much content for MSTS now that to bring you up to speed on the last 7 years we need to know more specifically what area, era, type of locomotion etc. interests you. There are probably fewer commercial add-on providers for MSTS than RW now (?) but those who've survived have developed their stuff to new heights too and many concentrate on specific areas.
I would say that the Steam4Me tutorial is probably THE "Holy Grail" and don't forget that Matt has added "Quick Picks" to the top of the front page
http://www.uktrainsim.com/mstsquickpicks.php
and I'd install all of that lot for starters.
Let us know where your interests lie and we can make some specific recomendations.

Hi.
Iam into modern locos and routes. i have just got the both parts of making tracks GEML. put them on and installed updates from the site. when i tried to load it came up with unending error's looking of stock. i thought the stock came with it? is it like RW where you have to get some payware stock to go with the missions?

It depends, most payware routes include the stock to run the included activities. The list of stock that comes with the Great Eastern route is here
http://www.makingtracks-online.co.uk/in ... mitstart=2
Community-based activities may or may not require payware stock to run. In most cases, there's a readme file with the activity that lists the stock required to run it.
There are tools that allow you to swap out stock for either default or what's in your Train Sim inventory.

Another golden rule is NEVER install more than one thing at a time. That way you'll know straight away where the errors are.
If you've done as I suggested you'll have RouteRiter. That will check your stuff for errors. So will Train Store although you may not need it's facilities now you will do sooner or later. Both in the Quick Picks downloads.

@pepe008
If you mean that you've installed Making Tracks' Great Eastern and Greater Eastern and you're getting errors messages about missing stock, then something has gone wrong with the installation. Both of these routes come with all of the stock necessary to run the included activities.
You could post a sample of the error messages here or raise a ticket over on the Making Tracks site and I'm sure someone will help you sort it out.
