big deltic news

Post by delticd9000 »

For the first time in preservation, all six production Deltics are scheduled to be displayed together at the Wabtec Doncaster 150 open Weekend.

DNLL will be sending D9016 "Gordon Highlander", D9000 "Royal Scots Grey" and the NRM's D9002 "The King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry", the latter which will have been freshly completed for main line use at Wabtec.

The event will see a wide variety of ECML motive power displayed, and will be held over the weekend of July 26th & 27th.

Seems to me to be the ideal time to be in the UK- will there be any tours the week before- same weekend etc...???

Might try and coincide the visit to UK for this.

well if Mr Court esq. is perhaps coming too, I think all UK based train sim fans should make sure he is welcome! (fancy a pint or two Tim? you most definately deserve it after working your fingers to the bone for the delight and delectation of others...)

Interesting strand, seeing as 9015 is still in a 101 bits at the Midland Railway Centre. :argue:

BUT, If it comes off, as Donny is only 32 miles from the "big light blue one" in the NRM at York, it would be really nice to see 7 deltics in a line up.

As of yet there is no public comment on this supposed gathering from the DPS website, (the DPS owning 3 of the 6 production Deltic's, including No. 15.

I thought not :(

From the DPS website: -

"Contrary to what has appeared elsewhere, D9015 Tulyar will not be appearing at the Open Weekend at Wabtec, Doncaster on July 26th & 27th. Discussions are taking place regarding the possible attendance of Alycidon and Royal Highland Fusilier at the event. However, the overhaul of Tulyar will not have been completed by this date so the loco will not be available to take part."

Well the NRM is sending Mallard, GNR Stirling Single no:1 and an Ivatt Atlantic so who knows they could send Deltic.
