If you manage to get decent performance from your GTX 460 when you finally get going I'd like to hear about it.

Hi Dennis,

I don't have any problem running most of MSTS on my GTX460, it's just this one route causing me headaches; something like Great Eastern typically returns 40-60fps according to FRAPS.

Of course, it helps if you can type! :-? On going to change my mem parameter I found that I had typed -mem;1024. Correcting this to -mem:1024 has fixed the problem, at least on the desktop - tbh I doubt if the laptop has the necessary memory, although I may give it a try out of interest!

Thanks for all the help guys, I have just arrived safely at Poole and saved and exited in order to come and tell you what happened. If I ever have to move MSTS again be assured I will not forget the mem parameter!

Regards,
Could you give a detailed spec of your system and MSTS settings? MSTS certainly doesn't like mine - AMD Phenom 965 (4 x 3.4GHz) 8Gb memory, ASRock 890FX Deluxe 3 motherboard, Creative X-Fi Music sound card, 2 x 500Gb Western Digital disks (not fast but not slow either) and an Nvidia GTX 460. My OS is Windows 7 64 bit. Open Rails really flies on my system but MSTS is terrible - I've re-constructed an old PC to run MSTS.

Intel E7620 2.66GHZ o/c 2.8GHz, 4Gb RAM, ASUS P5H Deluxe motherboard with onboard 7.1 sound system, 2 x Seagate Barracuda 750Gb, 7500RPM 3Gb/sec SATA HDD, Windows Vista 32bit. ANd it's this last one I think is the difference; I know, or have read of, loads of people having problems with legacy 32bit games on 64bit Windows.

MSTS settings, for the record, are 1024x768 all available settings maxed.

Correction MSTS is at 1280 x 1024, all sliders maxed.

Just driven a large section of SDJR, looks fantastic!

As a matter of interest, what drivers are you using for your GTX 460 and has your copy of Vista been upgraded from DirectX 10 to 11? I have been wondering if the GTX 460 would work perfectly well under XP which could only drive it via the DirectX 9 interface. I have seen suggestions that the Nvidia driver mapping of DirectX 7 calls to DirectX 11 is where the problem is.

Hi Dennis,

266.58 drivers, and the Directx 11 update was installed by Windows Update (and shows as as successful); i don't have any DX11 games that I'm aware of, so can't verify it works!
