Help wanted with 1962 S & D Pines
Have downloaded this activity and have the route up and running. Problem is when reversing the 9f loco onto the carriages they fail to connect. Being an old codger and fairly new to MSTS and having read about coupling problems I really have no clue as to how to rectify this.
Many thanks in advance for advance

Hi David,
Welcome to the community and the forums.
Assuming you have downloaded all required stock for the SDJR route there is one or two issues that slipped the testing net.
This has been released to help
The self-extractor should find your MSTS folder. You will be told where it is extracting to.
Hope this helps.
Good luck
Doug

Re: Help wanted with 1962 S & D Pines
Hi Doug,
Thanks for that pach info which I downloaded before it was removed. It actually caused even more problems.
But the problem I am trying to solve is how to connect the 9F loco to the carriages in Bath Station in the activity
'1962 SO Down Pines Express' file ID. 25621.
Waiting in hope for a solution,
David

Re: Help wanted with 1962 S & D Pines
Are the coach's couplings compatible with the 9F? Use Route Riter to check that they are all either automatic or chain - a mixture of the two won't work. You can also do this manually by checking the eng and wag files and editing if necessary.

Re: Help wanted with 1962 S & D Pines
Hi David,
That's what comes of recommending downloads without having used them. Sorry. As it came from the author I took a chance. The replacement should not be long, wait for that it may correct the 9f problem which is a coupling incompatability issue.
Ash has posted the reason. Here is how to fix it.
To try to fix it yourself.
In Trains/Trainset make a copy/backup of the 'Bath_BR_9F' folder.
Open the 'Bath_BR_9F' folder
Locate and open the file 'BR_9F_92203_Tender_1G.WAG'
Look for this part of the file.

Save the changes.
There is a school of thought that advises stadardising on couplings for your MSTS. I.E. Every new install is changed to the same Type.
Hope this helps.
Good luck
Doug

Re: Help wanted with 1962 S & D Pines
Hell Doug,
Many thanks for that. Problem now solved and lets see if I can get over Masbury Summit without stalling.
I remember many happy hours as a kid back in the fifties travelling over the line for holidays in Bournemouth
but never on the Pines express.
Cheers and thanks
David

Re: Help wanted with 1962 S & D Pines
Hi everbody interested in this issue,
When I created this activity, I changed the tender spec supplied in the Bath 9F to chain, and renamed the WAG to suit this and used it in the activity, so it would not be mixed up with the one then supplied.
I did a test run on the activity before I uploaded it. The chain coupled tender WAG is supplied with the activity!
I am using the chain coupled variants of the Maroon MK1, it is possible that there are some automatic coupled types out there, so please be patient with coupling incompatibilty issues.
However, one or two people seem to have had a problem with couplers. When coupling, the approaching speed must be kept constant at around 2.8 mph, otherwise coupling may not occur.
Since this activity was uploaded, many coupling mismatch issues came to light with the SDJR activity pack, which Martin Pope has kindly ventured forth to sort out.
I hope the dust will finally get to settle on this matter. Many thanks to Jim Asman (pilots) for his patient hours of testing.
Regards,
SDtrains

Hi David, there's a small band of us old-uns gathering that are old enough to remember being on or near the S&D in the fifties.piraterad wrote:Hell Doug,

They might have taken the railway away from us, but they can't erase the memories, even if they do fade somewhat in time.

Re: Help wanted with 1962 S & D Pines
It doesn't seem to be over 40 years ago since Western Region in one of their his e fits decided to close the S&D they literaly tried to close any thing to do with the Southern West of Salisbury the S&D,The Withered Arm beyond Barnstaple, and even the line to Exeter from Salisbury, they tried that by stealth,by single tracking it with passing loops it was realy Chris Green who saved it when he started Network South East and started running Express trains using class 47 and 50 on the route.

Re: Help wanted with 1962 S & D Pines
I am experiencing yet another problem, this time with the Burnham to Templecombe activity. On the branch approach to Evercreech I get stuck at a red signal and despite being on time and waiting for the all clear it just will not change. Any ideas gents?

I got stuck at that signal when I resumed the activity from a saved game, but when I ran it straight through the signal was clear.

Yes I was running from a saved game and having now tried running straight through the signal is clear. Don't understand the reason for that.choccy wrote:I got stuck at that signal when I resumed the activity from a saved game, but when I ran it straight through the signal was clear.

Hi David and Mark,
ANY changes made to the MSTS installation that affects the saved act/s will prevent a save restarting.
Something like adding a patch to a loco. Changing the act, removing/adding stock ect.
Good luck
Doug

Learning all the time. I did actually change the loco so reverted back to the 2251 class as per the act.
Thanks for yet another tip.
