RouteRiter Alternative Please.

Post by paulco »

Hello everybody, its me again.

is there an alternative to routeriter, I have this and have been trying for 2 days to create a mini route.

For some reason routeriter keeps hanging up with no choice but to restart and hangs again at same point. Is there a way to create a mini route using a folder system.

I have the full instructions on my laptop and have been following the instructions which are easy enough to follow and have even seen the new mini route folder in c:\ I can get to section 21 in the instructions when routeriter stops responding.

Any help please

Thanks

Paul

Hi Paul,

RR is not the only way to create mini routes, there are manual instructions.
Otto has a good set I believe.

I have never used mini's, I just use Train Store.

Hi Derek, thanks for reply.

I have seen somewhere a way to create Mini-Routes using a Folder Tree but cannot find where.

Many thanks

Paul,
Before you give up on the Route Riter mini route creator make quite sure when you get to stage 21 that you have selected the mini route in the panel at the top left.before Compacting.
It is easy to mistakenly select the wrong drive and/or folder. Confirm that it is the right one and click on it.

Once again, Tony, you are right on the spot.

I found that if you follow the Mike Simpson/Yuri Sos guide you are extremely unlikely to go wrong - unless of course you are like me and essentially "cack-handed"!

. . . and combined with Mini Loader it's the "bee's knees"!

Alec

PS Has anyone ever seen a bee's knees and consequently confirm that they are "perfect"!!!

Hi Alec & Tony, thanks for reply.

Will have to leave this until Monday now, as now back on nights for weekend.

I thougt Mike Simpson/Yuri Sos guide was excellent and followed every section very easily until as said came unstuck on section 21.

Will give it another try on Monday, who knows, maybe 4th time lucky.

Thanks

Hi Paul,

My original Section 21 says:-
quote
21.Once this completes, in the left window find Routes\Bodiddly RR, double click, then click the Mini-Route Compact Tracks button: make sure your mini-route's path appears in the window's top border. Click OK.
unquote

It would probably make more sense to read:-
21. Once this completes, in the left window find Routes\Bodiddly RR, double click and make sure your mini-route's path appears in the top border of the main Route_Riter window. Then click the Mini-Route Compact Tracks button. Click OK.

Hi Mike. Thanks for reply.

Totally messed up this Time.

I have completed uninstalled Route Riter And associated files in C:\Program Files.

Re-Installed Route riter only to find that it is going straight to SkiptonV2 which is the Mini-Route that I am trying to create. Think it should open in Route Riter Path.

When I click to Confirm Route I get the following Error Message:-

This WILL cause your Route to Fail when starting in MSTS. E1Load.Ace is missing.

Route Riter will not go Past this point.

How do I set it back to Default Settings to Install Please.

Many thanks

Yes, that would be step 19c: RR is telling you of a fatal error that will cause Skipton to fail - the E1load.ace is missing. Either it's missing or corrupt.

Copy a load.ace from a default route to the route's folder and rename it E1load.ace - that will at least get you to complete RR confirming the route.

Hi Yuri,
Not wishing to decry your answer, which would no doubt work.
However I have Skipton v2 installed and working (Normal install).
There is not an ACE file called E1load.ace any where in it. I used the Folder Search Facillity.

I wonder? Has Paul quoted the correct file name.

Good luck
