Resurrecting the thread to publicise the era changer which is now available in the MT site's File Library (Routes > Greater Eastern). Have tried out the BR version so far - installs fine and makes Norwich a bit more as it should be :) Thanks, MT.

Right click onto your MSTS shortcut, click properties and go into the compatibility tab (if you do not have one then create one), then dedicate about half your system's RAM to MSTS by adding "-mem:XXX" at the end of the target box (with XXX being what half your system's RAM is, ie, my laptop has 1790MB of RAM, I dedicated about 895MB of RAM to MSTS by adding "-mem:895" to the end of the target box). I cannot guarantee that this will definetly work, however, its worth a try and worked a treat for me! :D
You don't get the option to dedicate ram in Vista Home Premium!!!

How do you know that? If you add the mem switch on the end of your shortcut, how do you know it doesn't work?

If you've got train store you can alocate the ram by going into classic trainstore,I've got Windows 7 and did it that way,now getting far better frame rates, and Great Eastern 1&2 work fine

And if you don't have trainstore for some reason, entering the correct sytax in the "RUN" command allocates memory in the same way as it does for W7 or XP, however, W7 manages memory better than any previous OS.
