What happened to Chris Longhurst's models?

Post by esswe »

I went looking for an update to the old "beta 0.4" Eurostar made by Chris Longhurst but found that his site, Christrains, seemed to be gone, and that all download links for his models were dead.

So what happened to Chris L?

Due to copyright, the freeware eurostar was removed from Chris's site, and he made the alterations EuroStar Ltd requested, and put it in the justtrains euroloco pack. So if u want an updated Eurostar u need to buy the euroloco pack. As its not allowed to be released freeware.

there are a number of sites that still stock it in the beta0.4 form though, as IKB posted.

http://www.christrains.com is still open, and (excellent) new NS trains are still being made.

"Server not found".

I've got the exakt same error message every time I've tried it (for a few days now). And when I try the IP-address I get a redirect to "Yahoo domains", so it seems like there's something wrong with the christrains.com domain.

I looked for the "Euro Loco Pack" at my local computer games stores (local = Copenhagen, Denmark) but couldn't find it, and it's not listed among the mail order goods at the Just Trains web site so I guess I'm out of luck.....

(BTW did you know that "loco" means crazy in Spanish? So a "Euro Loco" would probably be someone crazy enough not to want the Euro. Which means that the antis as a group would be the "Euro Loco Pack".)

His site, "www.christrains.com", hasn't worked for several days but it does now. Maybe he forgot to pay for his domain name? :)

It does now, but the server has been down for the past few days.

(And yes, I do know what I'm talking about. I make my living teaching computer science, especially networking, at college.)
