SWT today

Post by ThinLizzy »

So who got caught in all that this morning then? One of the first trains of the mroning was heading towards fareham from portchester, when it hit an unknown object on the line, this ripped off the shoe gear {this picks up the electricity from the 3rd rail}. before the driver could get in contact with the signalman to explain the situation, the next train behind him passed through the same section of track {the first train limped to fareham} and hit the shoe gear from the first train, this ripped off the shoe gear from the second train. trains were then stopped in both directions for nearly 3 hours whilst we searched the line for debris likely to remove any more sets of shoe gear

What ripped the shoe gear off in the first place?

You be supprised what you see on the trackside left by vandals.

Seats from the units that have been chucked out, fire extinguishers. I've see a dumped Landrover next to the track as well.

Thin Lizzy was on his way work!!! now see the government etc are on about other means of punishemnt other than jail, well, i reckon if they catch the buggers, they should put them on the platform and announce "these are the something somethings that caused all the delays thursday, we'll just leave them here and walk away with our eyes closed and our fingers in our ears."

I sympathise with the situation. Vandalism and trespass cause an awful lot of delay each year. Most of the average 200 deaths that result are adults, who really should know better.

I used to find it very, very frustrating to have to continually put up with stupid people that really should occupy their free time with more normal, socially acceptable activities.

Never mind all this reality TV rubbish with wannabe celebs...Lets have some gritty real life crime and trespass footage, gore and all.

Sadly trespass is a daily occurrence everywhere on the network and really getting tough may be the only answer.

The thing is, alot of them are too young to be 'revealed', and so no-one except themseleves and their mates really know who they are, and on the rare occaision they do get caught, they can't be charged. So no-one can be blamed, and the kids can keep doing it, as they know that all will happen is that they will get told off, with no real punishment

Or a train might come along when then dont expect it!
heres a good story i heard from a bournemouth guard.
the brockenhurst local hunt were out, chasing a fox or something, this thing went under a fence and across the railway line, safely/ the dogs followed it under, but didnt have the same luck as the fox, a few got juiced up, so the hunt master climbed over this fence, to try and get the dogs back. then the weymouth to waterloo fast service came along, at full speed, there went another couple of dogs. so he phoned up the transport police for help, he said something like, " oh my dogs are on the railway line, i have climbed over to get them back, but they are being hit by trains, and electrocuted by the third rail, can you come and help please?" so the police arrive, and hes back on the normal side of the fence, he starts explaining what happened, mentioning the bit where he climbs over the fence. so this cop interupts, and says, "did you say you climbed over a railway fence just then sir" bewildered, the hunt master answers, "yes, i did". so the policeman goes, "in that case, i am arresting you for tresspassing on railway property!
i know it sounds like the joke i mad in the chatter section about jon champ, but thats honestly what he said.
