Re: Highworth - keeping the route alive.
Hi Art,
As Supplied the Cabview is a version of the Manor Cab and appears to tilt upwards. This is due to the image used for the view and is necessary for the correct appearance. Raising the view only throws everything out.
The only improvement that can be made is the position of the view forwards. It is set at the center of the loco and would benefit from moving back to -6.5, the actual cab position, so that when looking left or right from the Cabview the exterior is right.
Good luck
Doug

Re: Highworth - keeping the route alive.
Hi Art,
Changing the Forward,Rearward position of the Cabview will not help.
Maybe drive Headout. Up/Down keyboard arrows.
If you really want to play with the view position.
HW_Gwr2301 is the loco Folder in Trainset.
Open the loco folder
Open the Cabview Folder
Open the Cabview file GWR2301.cvf
Tr_CabViewFile (
CabViewType ( 3 )
CabViewFile ( "..\\..\\HW_common.cab\\gwr\\cabview\\cabfront.ace" )
CabViewWindow ( 402 0 300 400 )
CabViewWindowFile ( "..\\..\\HW_common.cab\\gwr\\cabview\\AcWndFrn.ace" )
Position ( 1 1 0 )
Direction ( 10 -19 -5 )
CabViewFile ( "..\\..\\HW_common.cab\\gwr\\cabview\\cableft.ace" )
CabViewWindow ( 0 0 640 480 )
The line in red is the one to change. There is a space between each value. Value is meters.
(
Ist value: left/right minus is left
2nd value: up/down minus is down
3rd value: forward/back minus is back
)
BACKUP to desktop, the cabview file first.
Exit MSTS make and save changes restart MSTS through Train Store see result.
It's up to you. Make sure you have the BACKUP first.

Hi Art,
Seriously, as long as you have a backup, even of the whole Loco Folder. Any mistakes can be reversed. Although the worst that can happen is a Cabview 60ft in the air or something like that. Then just put the values back to what they were.
Good luck
Doug

Hi Art,
OK. You have your backup. Yes?
Read this bit again.
The second "1" is the value to change. Change it to "2". Do not forget to save the changes. Start MSTS and try the views.
Have a play and see what you get.
Come back.
Good luck
Doug

Position ( 1 1 0 ) is the line as it is we do not know what it needs to be. So we change the line a bit at a time until the best one is found.douglee wrote:

Re: Highworth - keeping the route alive.
The middle number is the hight from rail level in metres.
Change it to 3 and you should be OK.

Re: Highworth - keeping the route alive.
Hi Art,
Ian has given the best value. I was hoping to give you a learning curve, as the best way to learn.
Nearly all large locos have a cabview at 3 meters above rail level. Smaller industrial types are lower.
So! For the Cabview we are changing The line will read "Position ( 1 3 0 )" Keep the spacing.
As to not changing in the Sim you say the values are as you changed them in the .cvf File.
Are you completely shutting down MSTS and restarting again? The values need to be read by the program again to register the new figures.
Or! Are you changing the right Cabview in the right Folder. For the act No22 it is 'HW_Gwr2301'
For other acts locos that use the same Cabview each one must be changed.
Good luck
Doug

Hi Art,
This is the adjusted view at a station,

Click the image to zoom in
As you see the view is higher but is not right.
How does it compare to yours?
Good luck
