Post by train »

Hi

As i am looking forward to this new Package from 3DTS,and so are others,is there any news when it will be released as it
does say May or June on there website.I'm sure there must be someone who knows something behind the scenes.Will it be
the full length Bath To Bournemouth.To say that this could be the best yet for MSTS things have been quiet on this Package.
As i now use Railworks,it will bring me back to the old program.Any Screenshots even

1 WITCH. Thrice the brinded cat hath mew'd.
2 WITCH. Thrice and once, the hedge-pig whin'd.
3 WITCH. Harpier cries:—'tis time! 'tis time!
1 WITCH. Round about the caldron go;
In the poison'd entrails throw.—
Toad, that under cold stone,
Days and nights has thirty-one;
Swelter'd venom sleeping got,
Boil thou first i' the charmed pot!
ALL. Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn, and caldron bubble.
2 WITCH. Fillet of a fenny snake,
In the caldron boil and bake;
Eye of newt, and toe of frog,
Wool of bat, and tongue of dog,
Adder's fork, and blind-worm's sting,
Lizard's leg, and owlet's wing,—
For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.
ALL. Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn, and caldron bubble.
3 WITCH. Scale of dragon; tooth of wolf;
Witches' mummy; maw and gulf
Of the ravin'd salt-sea shark;
Root of hemlock digg'd i the dark;
Liver of blaspheming Jew;
Gall of goat, and slips of yew
Sliver'd in the moon's eclipse;
Nose of Turk, and Tartar's lips;
Finger of birth-strangled babe
Ditch-deliver'd by a drab,—
Make the gruel thick and slab:
Add thereto a tiger's chaudron,
For the ingrediants of our caldron.
ALL. Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn, and caldron bubble.
2 WITCH. Cool it with a baboon's blood,
Then the charm is firm and good.

I can feel the draught of that board rubber as it whistled past my ear now!

How DID he manage to read from the book, be aware of who wasn't paying attention AND deliver such deadly accurate shots without even glancing up? Uncanny.

Of course ALL my old school masters would have been sacked nowadays, and barred from ever teaching again, for "assault" or "child abuse" and parents would have been bombarding the school with writs and demands for "counselling" for their precious wee darlings. Trouble is they'll probably grow up thinking that Shakespeare was a bloke they named a pub after .....if there's any left soon that is.

It seemed to me that the three witches might create the necessary "charms" that would answer this question!

The "SEND - DON'T SEND" is certainly the equivalent of that dreaded dagger seen before one's eyes!

You will have obviously drawn the conclusion that I do not always take things too seriously - how could I or others survive otherwise!

First, the guys in the UK are making good progress on the S&D route and we hope to have it ready for release around May or June this year. Keep in mind that the guys are doing this stuff in their spare time and have personal lives so announced released dates are just a goal which we may or may not meet as our family lives come first.
They've never made any pre-release announcements in the past so patience and time will answer the question?

As far as any 'big pay day' is concerned, I am sure that this will not be part of the 3DTS gambit for this route. This route has been so long coming to MSTS that some people have built their own , quite apart from the 3DTS effort. Now, the prospects are quite good for the S&D on MSTS, with at least two other versions and a bit of it in a third in the pipeline. However, I am very interested to see the extent of the coverage in the other versions, and if there will be another version like Railworks - less than half of it! Personally, I wondered if the 3DTS version joins on to the Swanage, as it is in the same neighbourhood and uses some of the same stock, although it probably doesn't as the eras are different. My version of Swanage is based in the same era as the S&D and it is possible to run the Cleethorpes service from Green Park southwards, and the various branch services, however, it will take a while to get the scenery together, and there are other issues such as signalling to untangle, as it is based on the original Dorset,so please don't expect it this year.

Warwick the reason we all "went off on one" is that you've started a new thread when others on the subject already existed. :-? The UK 3DTS team are very much part time and sticklers for quality. When it's ready it's bound to be good. Everything else they've done has been and there is so much work in producing a route to the standards and size that they've done that the only "news" they're likely to have is ......"It's Ready". Until thenm we just have to be patient. As a massive S&D fan I'm glad that the route has come so late in the Sims development because there is so much more possible now than a few years ago.

?????? Really? Where are the links to those? The only one I new of was given up on years ago after a number of restarts?

I believe there was a "white void issue" with joining onto the Swanage route but that may now be overcome? In any case the usual "end of the line" at the Southern end was Bournemouth West. Many Excursions came from the Midlands and Bournemouth was closer and more facilities for day trippers. I'd be amazed if the Swanage pacifics weren't reskinned for the S&D but there's not a lot else that 3DTS has done that is that relevant to the S&D.

The Swanage branch in the S&D era only had the one stop at Corfe. Wareham had two branch line platforms where the regular service ran from and the main freight was clay from the claypits. Good excuse for some industrial NG in the same route? Excursion traffic gave some exotic visitors from both MR and SR but obviously this was Summer traffic. Good luck with the project but it sounds like a few years work to me?

Hi Geoff,
Yes I am afraid it will take a little time, but hopefully MSTS is futureproofed through the endeavours of Openrails, besides which , I do have to stop for the odd biological function and doing things for RRRG and MT. I am sure that the 3DTS and other versions will be very good quality, and I am looking forward to them. Steam Era Dorset is taking shape, the line from Waterloo to Exeter is at St Davids, but there has been substantial work to do to put the goods yards and missing lines like the 'Sprat and Winkle' back in. I still have a major rework underway at Wimbledon and most of the stations are being 'individualised'. It's been great fun doing the path testing. I have posted screenshots of some of the more complete sections. I have put Guildford MPD back in, and Nine Elms, Basingstoke, Salisbury and Exmouth junctions are all there in varying states of completion. However, the signalling model is still taking shape. I will not start signalling till I am satisfied with the track and signalling components. I think that it will be a fairly large script, with the signalling variants found on the S&D, SR UQ pneumatic and BR UQ and the colour lights, of varying styles. This will take place over the coming months, as the material I am researching comes to light. I am not sure that Steam Era Dorset will contain the 'best' version of the S&D, but the gradients and track are fairly close to what actually existed, and all of the scenery including Templecombe is my own, and I am aiming to make it as complete as I can.

Regards

SDtrains, Got a 1st name? friendlier?

Well a Steam/transition Era DC will be on my Hard Drive that's for sure :wink: Now I live on the route Dave's version has prototypical traffic but my real enthusiam for the Southern Region is back in the Transition era when the 2Bil's and Steam ran side by side.
