Translator coaches
I was wondering if there was any translator coaches available: eg. suitable for dragging a 313 or a 377 with a 66. Thanks

Re: Translator coaches
Hi class313???,
Sorry I missed your name.
In what context do you want a translator coach?
If it is to make a consist prototypycal? I searched downloads and unless there is one named differently. The one I found is not available.
If it is to couple different MSTS models?
The easiest and accepted way is to standardise all your couplings depending on your preferred era.
Hope this helps
Good luck
Doug

Re: Translator coaches
A translator coach has standard drawgear at one end and an EMU coupling without buffers at the other end. One was marshalled at each end of the EMU.
The coach translated the loco air brake pressure into the electronic pulses used by the EMU brake.
The power for the translator required an air supply of 7 bar and an ETH supply so a 66 could not be used.
47s were preferred as it was easiest to uprate the air. 67s are now used.
Should be easy to repaint a Mk1 3rd rail EMU driving coach which has buffers at one end only.

The photo was taken at Barclay's in Kilmarnock when we were taking the units from Shields Road for refurbishment.

If it's got buffers it's Chain.

Hi class313???,
I did a Downloads Search with 'barrier coach' as the key word.
It came up with these:-
Always use the search facillity first.
Anyway hope that helped.

Re: Translator coaches
I have only just put it in there, to avoid confusion.
Thanks for the advise.

Re: Translator coaches
GBRF use the Porterbrook coach and if I rememember correctly, they have a generator inside that allows it to be used with a loco that does not have its own ETH supply.
