St Nick goes by train

Post by ianm42 »

Every Sunday in December, up to Xmas, there are special steam hauled round trips of Munich, with St Nickolas on board to hand out pressies to the kids. Today, the three, one hour round trips were hauled by this type 50. At 11€ for the trip, which included a length of freight-only route around the north of the city, the train I was on was full, and you can see the crowd about to board the second run.

This weekend and last weekend there have also been steam hauled trips to Salzburg and Innsbruck for the Xmas markets there. New Years eve also sees some special trains. December is a good month for steam in Munich
