BRISTOL-BIRMINGHAM ROUTE PATCH 1.0

Post by casperdog »

Hi,
I have just uploaded a patch which replaces 3 pieces of faulty Dynatrax at Birmingham Station. The File i.d. is 23367 awaiting approval.
Apologies for the hassle but luckily it's only a small file.

A quick call to the admins from me meant that got approved tonight rather than the usual morning approvals.

Can't do that for every upload but given the interest in the route and the small size of the patch it was able to be approved tonight (all uploads have to be downloaded by the admins first to make sure they are intact).

As the route Read-Me mentioned that Route_Riter 'did not like the route', I decided to have a look at it and see where the problem was occurring - a user mentioned that RR was locking up in the .w files.

It turned out that RR was actually locking up in 8 separate .w files with a total of around 25 errors. These were all caused by texture files in the .w files being named with an extra '.' on the end of the filename, i.e.
BTBSpeedSign.ace.
EmbankmentBlendtrans.ace.
and
Embankmenttrans.ace.

I have fixed up all 8 files and was going to send them to the route author, but there is no email address in the readme, so I have posted them on my site if anyone wants to use them. See http://www.rstools.info/Public/W_Replacements.zip

Note: The fixed .w files include the one which was in the Patch 1 which still included the BTBSpeedSign.ace. entries

I'm not arguing (just explaining why I'm right).

Hi Mike,
Thanks very much for your time. Don't quite understand why but something to look out for on my next route if I get the same problem.
Thanks John for pushing it up the list. A bit annoyed with myself as it was the last error i'd found and thought i'd corrected it :(
Cheers,
Clive
Added later: Panic over!!!!!!!!!!. Had a terrible thought that Mike Simpson's corrected W files might destroy the repaired track included in the Patch but all seems OK. If you intend to use Mikes files, I would suggest using the patch first and then allowing Mikes files to over write.
