help needed installing the Harwich-Manningtree route

Post by XPTE »

I originally installed this route when it was first uploaded onto UKTS. But apparently I installed it without installing X-Tracks first because from what I read in the installation instructions this wasn't necessary, and allthough I was able to successfully run the route it ruined my track database file and I was left with no track sounds for all the routes I had installed. When I later found out that X-Tracks must be installed first, I then tried that, getting the X-Tracks download from http://www.train-sim.com, I followed the idiot-proof instructions, but when I tried running the route I got bombarded with error messages! Maybe I must have downloaded the wrong version of X-Tracks??

Can anyone tell me for definite which version of X-Tracks I need to download to get this route working please? And I'll then create a new activity for it!

Cheers in advance

I installed it when it was first released and it works with no problems.

What does it say in the routes readme file.If it doesnt say xtracks is needed, then dont install xtracks.

If it does ,get the latest v3.4 and install that.DO NOT run Horace, its not required.

Harwich to Manningtree definitely does not need XTracks or Finescale. But if they are installed, it shouldn't stop it working. Was the route batch file run with the default routes installed? If any of those are missing, it may appear to have installed OK, but would not have been.

I am not sure what you mean about ruining your track database, as each route has its own. Suggest you just delete the whole Harwich Manningtree route file in the Routes folder (it is called Europe3), and try installing again.

I could have sworn that elsewheere on these boards, it was mentioned that X-Tracks was needed to run the route.

I've recently reinstalled MSTS, so I guess now's the time to try installing it again. Get the feeling I'll lose all the tracks sounds across all the routes when I run it though. Unless something just went wrong last time.

Cheers.
