Looks a brilliant route.

Its included in Newroads V4.0
Just re unzipped my Newroads version 4.0 into a temporary folder to check.Maybe you haven't got the correct version in your Global or this piece has somehow got deleted.
To confirm go into your Global folder, open up the Shapes folder and scroll down to see if you can find it.
I used quite a few Road sections from Newroads V4.0.
Hope this helps.
Cheers

I also disliked the brown texture so tracked it down to DarkBrownDirt.ace.
A little increase in brightness and a drop in saturation toned it down nicely.

Completed the three activities with no fault found.
Piece of cake getting up the hill. 39MPH all the way.
Had to do a bit of speeding with that 60mph fish van to keep to time tho.

Great route and a pleasant surprise.
Ian would you mind posting that up as a download with Clives permission of Course?

May I apologise - I picked up your file name and searched for that! As it happens, the fourth character should be lower-case L, and there is no space between 'm' and '4'.

Hi David
Try starting, in explore mode, in Birmingham.

Same problem Jon (in reverse of course!).

David
Problem resolved.

I was a misunderstanding on the order to install the .w files in Patch 1 and Mike Simpson's new .w files.

For those of us still in the newcomers class for some kinds of tweaking MSTS, can anyone give a simple step by step method of changing that rather unattractive reddish brown texture to somthing more appropriate? I favour a greyish green myself!

Just right click and Save Picture As.
Drop it into aceit and put the ace file into the route's Textures folder.
AceIt that Ian mentions is this:-

Click to view more informationAceIt [1953866 bytes] - AceIt.zip
File ID: 10152 Date: 18 Aug 2006 - 2045 Downloads

Open AceIt
Click input File.
Browse to where you Saved the Picture double click it

Click Output File
Browse to the Bristol_Birmingham route double click it

Click the AceIt button

The picture has been converted to XXXX.ace and is in the Bristol_Birmingham route folder. Go there and Copy/Paste the new .ace file into the textures Folder.

You can if you like backup the original, rename it XXXXX.aceorig, in case you do not like the new one.

As usual ask if you need more help.

Good luck

Much nicer. Thankyou. If you don't mind i'll leave it in for 'if and when' i do an update/expansion.Tend to lose track of colours and texrures sometimes as i'm surrounded by that reddy brown soil colour and i haven't seen a ballasted railway line for quite a while :(

Thanks to all. I now have a nicer colour! As it is at least 50 year since I regularly travelled on the Green Park to Bristol amd Bournemouth lines I do not really remember what colour is appropriate!

The hardest bit was finding the texture. :D

I repainted the suspect bright blue to check it in the route to be sure I had the right one.

There is an easier way to make the ace.
If you have Route Riter you will find aceit.exe in the main RR folder.
Just drag and drop the .jpg onto aceit.exe and it will create an ace file.
