Re: sounds in the sim
Hi
Externally or internally ?
Just at the beginning of a Journey or during the Journey.?
If its the first then you could make and place sound sources at the stations... these would play in a loop.
If its the second you would need to make and add the sound to the cab.sms file, and use one of the available triggers.
If its the third you would need to make and add the sound to the cab.sms file, and use one of the available triggers
If its the last one its difficult, and you would need to do all the sounds in order ,and write the sms file to play the sounds sequentially.
There is a programme in the library that attempted to do this, but I don't think it is been developed any further.
Cheers
Jon

Re: sounds in the sim
Hi Matt,
Is to be feature in up loaded activity/ies?
If so.
The sounds will have to be included in the upload with comprehernsive installation instructions.
Then of course you will need the route authors permission.
You may know this.
For your own use.
It would seem that Terry's method used on The Manchester Metro would be the way to go.
That would give the same relevent announcement at the approach to each station.
It may be possible to set up events in each act to play a particular message.
That is not much help I know
, I am still learning activation events myself.
Good luck
Doug

Re: sounds in the sim
Hi again Doug i am aware that i will need permission from Mr Corfield if i decide to upload the activities with the sounds. at this moment in time i just wish to try to see what it is like to have them with the activity and if they work well within it if you understand where im coming from. from looking at the activity editor i can only find a way to add text in as a event not sound i may be doing something wrong along the lines tho.
Cheers Matt

Hi Matt,
This is not my field as I have said.
Yes I do see what you mean. Good practice!
I am sure that the AE Location Events menu Item has a box for 'Play a Sound'. This may be accessed by a right click.
I am sorry I can not be specific.
Unfortunately the man who would know is no longer with us. RIP Laurie.
Good luck
Doug

Download Terry Cunliffe's excellent Metrolink route and have a delve to see how he has done it sucessfully.

Re: sounds in the sim
Hi Matt and Doug
Unfortunately the AE Location Events - Sound, was never implemented in the sim.
The alternatives are either Sound Region or Sound Source.
There are disadvantages is using Sound Region, all the sounds may be used in a route.
You can only implement one sound for a specific track sound replacement.
Sound Source is a discrete sound, you can have as many or few as is desired and placement in the route is not as critical as with Sound Region placement.
Kindest regards
Ray
