Route: WWII - The Fatherland - problems

Post by ashgray »

Hi all

I've just finished updating the WWII - The Fatherland route to version 3.1 and am having problems getting it to work, as it CTDs after just a few bars of the loading screen. I've run it through Route-Riter, which says that "Global Shape file a1t0_3mStrt.s" (as an example) are missing from the route. There are around thirty files shown as missing. I assume these files are x -tracks files, and I have the most up-to date version installed. The strange thing is that the files listed in the RR report are present in both the Shapes folder in the route itself and also the Global/Shapes folder.

Any ideas anyone?

I'm probably teaching granny to suck eggs here but have you tried running from previous backups to narrow the problem down?

Yes - I copied the updated route to my USB drive and re-instated the backup, which works fine... :-? There must be something in the new update's master files that call for these "missing" files in a way the previosu version doesn't.

Thanks anyway!

Hi Ash
I seem to remember those 'strange' track shapes are not included in Xtracks.
I think they are available on TS.com ( but the name escape me for the min)
I'll post again soon.

Jon

Thanks Jon, but the files stated by RR as missing are actually in my installation twice, firstly in the Shapes folder of the route itself, and again in the Global Shapes folder. RR says there are over thirty X-Tracks files "missing", but a physical search of my system finds all of them easily enough. Somehow, it seems their presence isn't being recognised. I'm using XP by the way.

This one's got me stumped...

Is this the time for desperation measures - the binary chop. From the last working backup, install "half" your updates. Does it work? OK, install the next "quarter" updates else take "quarter" off? Etc, etc.........

(Ducks and runs for cover).

Thanks Dennis, but it seems the problem lies in the last (V3.1) update, since my backup of the previous version runs fine. I can use this backup but I'd like to be able to use the latest version. Anyway, I get a bit Sherlock Holmes-ish about errors like this... :P 8)

Hi Ash. Mine worked Ok. On 26th Jan.
Downloaded V3.1 opened into a Temp then slid into the route folder. Clicked ovewrite all.
Just to let you know it can work first time.
I'd try a re-download. but then I expect you have.
Hope this helps CU Eric
