Kings Cross Addition to MEuk v1.2

Post by LucaZone »

Question about what sets can be run from Kings Cross. MidEast UK is set late 70's early 80's i think i read. Was electrification in place? This pic below shows OHE does it not?

<IMG width="100" height="56" SRC="http://www.bugshots.co.uk/gallery/photos/sj000923.jpg">

Being able to run electric sets would please me no end, however i am willing to wait untill the creation of St. Pancras International, which is planned for my route. :P

I will be electrifying it from KX to where it was in 1977 BUT had I done this I would have not got it done for Christmas and felt you might have wanted it.

I am really snowed with stuff to do at the moment so released it early so I can get some other stuff done :)

I would like to know, is St. P in the correct place, when you're going to to build it. Because we could have a route Meet, I'm planning to do Manchester Centeral, Leed's to London St. P Midland Main Line.

im all up for route merging, but judging from the back end of this topic > 60 Stations, its not a currently feasible thing to pull off. :/

I'm on about, You build a terminous, send me the Tile, World file's, I'll use that tile in my route, so we both have the Same looking London St. P.

Like Tim and Steve N were planning with Retford. (I think)

Hope u dont mind. Couple of questions about this great route, and its recent upgrade. Considering the time scale you were able to construct it in ::
  • How much of an advantage was due to indepth planning before hand?
  • Was it built from accurate contour elevations?
  • Was the track elevation built from aquired data?
  • Did it require any forms of professional, purchased data?

I spent a fair bit of time in the mid to late seventies hanging around at Kings Cross and Woodgreen stations. There was a regular commuter serviice between Kings cross and Stevenage run by class 312 EMU's Also 313 units ran between Moorgate and various bits of Hertfordshire and covered ECML metals as far as Finsbury park.
When the Deltics were first named, the Finsbury Park locos were named after famous racehorses (Meld, Pinza ect and the northern stationed members of the class (I do not remember whether it was York or Doncaster) were named after regiments.
Hope that somebody can use this info.

I have somewher a 1977 locospotters handbook with all thge depot allocations of the time. If I manage to find it then I will post a list of Finsbury Park Deltics.
Regards,
Dave.

Depot allocations

Post by lacorbiere »

Eight were allocated to Finsbury Park, 6 to Gateshead, and 8 to Edinburgh Haymarket. York did not receive an allocation of Deltics until 1979 when HSTs displaced the Deltics from the full line runs - York then received all 14 Northern Deltics.

Doncaster only featured in major works attention.
