All we need now is someone clever to make up some Fishbellied Iron Rails for with Stone sleepers and we're back in 1804 :D

Who's up for building Puffing Billy, Royal George or Locomotion, maybe even Invicta :o

Hi
Today was the 240th Birthday of Richard Trevithick

Richard Trevithick would have been 240 today – and the anniversary of his birth has been marked with a Google doodle.

The Cornish engineer, born on 13 April 1771, helped revolutionise travel with his work on the steam engine and is rated as one of the fathers of steam locomotion.

Being a 0-6-0 the Googlemotive is more like the Royal George. It would be interesting to make a MSTS model of the Googlemotive :D

But it wouldn't run!

Look closely at the wheel direction! :-?

I'm a bit surprised nobody has done the broad gauge. Bristol to Swindl'Um via Sydney Gardens and Box Tunnel would be nice. With the infamous soup kitchen and IKB somewhere measuring the track with his stick. Or does MSTS not lend itself to simulation of broad gauge engines and signalling.

:bad-words:

Never noticed that, would have to take the teeth off of one of the cogs

I assume that the large red and yellow cogs are not in lateral alignment; each of them only engages with the small grey cogs on the driving axles, not with one another. The yellow cog is in front of the red one.

If the wheel on the left turns clockwise.....

....then the red gog turns anti-clockwise.....

.......and the yellow gog turns clockwise.......

.........and the wheel on the right turns anti-clockwise! A few sparks!

If the cog on the middle wheel was just in mesh with the red cog it would turn clockwise.....

.....or if was just in mesh with the yellow cog it would turn anti-clockwise. And a few sparks here as well!

If it was in mesh with both, the whole engine would turn clockwise around the wheel on the left!!! :o

This is the sort of question you'll find in a psychometric test. One I took a couple of weeks ago had a sequence of conveyor belts arranged in three teirs, and they were running in various directions, indicated by rotation direction arrows on one of the end rollers, with a box on the top conveyor. The question was asking where the box would end up.

It all depends on whether the red and yellow cogs are meshing with one another.
To me the yellow cog could be in front of the red cog and not meshing with it; the sketch is not clear.
In which case it would work as I explained.
Being a single two dimensional drawing it is not possible to be positive about the physical relationships between the various items as seen in the sketch. We assume that the various cogs are meshing but they could be several inches apart across the width of the loco.

Hi All,
Richard Trevithick is not going to argue. Although he is probably spinning in his grave. :D Which way I don't know!!!!!! :o

It all depends on the Bar Code on the box, the bay the waggon is parked on, the delivery address and how competent the driver is.
I guess lateral thinking like that would fail the test.

A Hi-Bay Warehouse is a joy to watch. Although I am easily pleased.

Good luck
