East Coast express query
Hi,
I was given Ece Parts 1 & 2 for Christmas but I need some help as I can't finish any of the acyivities as my sim keeps crashing back to windows. I've tried solid since I got it to finish a single act but no joy. the act of mid summer madness is one of the ones I tried and i'm as far as hadley wood and the sim keeps crashing out to windows just after the south tunnel.
I've not put part2 in yet .
I'm running windows Vista home premium 32 bit
All the permissions are set
Bin patch 1.7
2GB Ram
my msts settings are
Visibilty 1100
Terrain error thereshold 60
World object density 5
World object quality 2
Terrain object quality 2
Terrain object texture quality 2
volume all on 1.0
quality medium
Overall display 2 from best Graphics
Shadows dynamic is on but all the others are off
distant mountains off
overhead wires off
Water,Textured sky are all on and precipitation is off.
Display res is 1024x768x32
text captions is off
Any ideas

Re: East Coast express query
Hi Ben
Just tried the Midsummer Madness act but it runs just fine here.
I cannot imagine that Vista is the culprit as I don't think the route (and hence the act as it comes with the route) would work at all if that were the cause of your problem.

Re: East Coast express query
I cannot imagine that a faulty disk would cause an activity to crash either, assuming everything's installed OK.
Have you checked the act with Route Riter? Also, what are your computer's specs - CPU, memory, graphics card?

Re: East Coast express query
So the next thing to do is to checked the route & acts with Route Riter - your specs are good enough so maybe the route hasn't installed correctly.

Re: East Coast express query
That's what we have to establish, but there's clearly something awry if you cannot complete any of the acts.
As I've said, check the route and acts first -let's see if everything has installed or if RR throws up and other problems - I'm assuiming you've set up Vista according to the advice on the MSTS Vista forum?.
Fault-finding is a logical series of steps where each possibility is eliminated one by one until we (hopefully) find the answer.

Re: East Coast express query
Firstly, check the route using the applet in the Route Utils tab.
Then, either check all activities or check selected activity, using the applets in the Activities/Stock tab.

Re: East Coast express query
Checking the activities may take quite a while, depending on how much stock, consists, etc you have in your MSTS installation.

Re: East Coast express query
I've just checked the route with Route riter and there's no envfiles folder in the route and route riter couldn't check the route any further. I can't check the acts due to this error.
So whats next.

Re: East Coast express query
The route definately has (and needs) an ENVFILES folder. The only thing odd is that without this folder in the route, I don't see how the route would work at all....
You said that you cannot finish any of the activities - can you load any of them at all?
Either way, you'll need to re-install the route. It sounds to me like your Visat permissions are not set up correctly.
