Re: European Bahn returning to MSTS
This is good news indeed. I posted a while back that EB could continue updating there existing products without developing newer routes as they said the last main stream product is Great western. As we all know ECE,WCE,GW extended much further than what we currently have now. Im wondering what ECE part 5 will cover? GW part 2 i bet will be extended to bristol.
Thanks
Thanks
Re: European Bahn returning to MSTS
for me hopefully london south coast part 2 brighton eastwards to hastings.

Re: European Bahn returning to MSTS
I would like to see the West Coast Express Part 3 run to Stafford or Crewe and also covers the Chsse line from Birmingham to Rugeley, The Birmingham to Stafford line and the Trent Valley Line, i was sent the October newsletter from ebonline@eds-kent.co.uk
This is what i was sent by ebonline@eds-kent.co.uk
General News!
MSTS1 development is continuing . . . . . with a number of new products. These will consist of Locomotive Packs, Activity packs, extensions and even, dare I say, completely new routes. You may remember we introduced "the Series" idea back with "London South Coast", taking the original "London Brighton", "West Coast Express" and then adding the Arun Valley to begin building the product into a larger more interesting project.
We, are looking at a number of ideas, which would mirror this approach ("the Series"), based on other key routes . . . i.e. "East Coast Express". "West Coast Express", "Midland Mainline", and our latest release "Great Western". The options are endless . . . but one decision that has been made is they will be ONLY available by download.

That would be nice to see. However, I hope if they extend their routes they also look at earlier versions of their routes which still have countless examples of floating and mis-placed scenery. Before I took on the G2C work, I was seriously considering asking EB if I could edit their LSC route to fix the errors and see if EB would upload as a patch. I love the lines that LSC covers but the scenery errors ruin the enjoyment somewhat.home1 wrote:for me hopefully london south coast part 2 brighton eastwards to hastings.![]()

My last purchase was WCML/Cross City which actually was better than previous RB routes although it was annoying certain landmarks were missed out. (I did buy Midland Mainline but that was a for a relative. I helped him install it, spent five minutes on it and haven't bothered since).jbilton wrote: ...
I personally haven't bought the last 4 releases, but only because they didn't interest me.
I have got the ECML, as far as York, and enjoy it.
If the Midland Mainline reaches Nottingham/Derby then I will certainly buy it.
ECML wouldn't interest me unless they were going up to Scotland, but extensions to WCML might tempt me.
What ultimately might put me off is that although my broadband has improved, I still can't stand downloads.

Re: European Bahn returning to MSTS
Well, time will tell as to what we get!
Personally I would like to see, as stated several times, them extend WCE to cover the Network West Midlands area in full - will give more running for long distance trains (WCML to Stafford or further from Rugby) and more variety for freight and suburban trains.

Hi Everyone, yes I also got an e-mail from EB and it came completely out of the blue.
As far as further developments on MSTS, I would like Part 5 of the East Coast Mainline to be the route from York to Newcastle.

Re: European Bahn returning to MSTS
I would like the East Coast to run right up to Edinburgh 'cos its a super hooper dooper dipper of a route,
after Newcastle the scenics are terrfic up to Edingburgh.
I did mention this to EB some months ago.
Just had a thought, if EB were to do that extension then we have the East Coast Line from Kings X to Inverness !
Mully is programming Edinburgh to Inverness now for RW.

Re: European Bahn returning to MSTS
How would you do the Inverness leg in MSTS though, need an extension to Perth to link with Highland Mainline.
An extension to Edin would be good, though I personally like the Berwick - Edinburgh section, the rest is ok, but boring

Re: European Bahn returning to MSTS
This is what I think they could do.
ECML :- Either extend the line up to Newcastle or put the Hull line in from Doncaster.
WCML :- Trent Valley up to Crewe including Stoke on Trent.
MML :- Either up to Derby / Nottingham including Corby or go all the way up to Sheffield.
GWML :- Get the airport link in (as the flyover is already there), get the small branches in (Henley on Thames, Marlow, Windsor & Elton Central and Greenford maybe as a branchline pack).
Maybe too adventurous but I think achieveable.
What do you guys think?
Cheers Craig

Re: European Bahn returning to MSTS
Ok, I'll go with that. These would be my choices.
ECML :- Not fussed, would only be interested if it reached Scotland.
WCML :- Any part of it, Liverpool, Manchester, Carlisle, Glasgow, just more of it. One of the EB routes I do like.
MML :- Not interested.
GWML :- Either electrify the line to Airport junction or remove the junction and retro the route to pre-privatisation. That's what put me off. Heathrow flyover there but no wires.
Not fussed about extensions.
LSC:- Areas not covered already by MSTS. Ie East Coastway, Seaford, Eastbourne, Hastings, but including the the bit from Wivelsfield as well.
Either that or cover some more of the suburban parts, ie Tattenham Corner, Sutton, West Croydon, Epsom Downs, Streatham, Denmark Hill etc.

Re: European Bahn returning to MSTS
I have a feeling that many posters here do not see the logic behind RS.com idea of using Steam and offering the game at discounted rates from time to time.
Steam users do tend to grab the 'Weekend Specials' no matter what they are. If they then get interested in RailWorks, they purchase the add-ons. This is where the money is, from reading posts on the RW forums, a great many of the users there have purchased every one of the add-ons, at up to 20 pounds a time, this works out at far more than the cost of RailWorks itself.
Why EB would be interested in selling through shops is beyond me, one route author I spoke to who sold this way was lucky to get more than a pound a copy from the publisher, most of the money being taken by the retailer/wholesaler/manufacturer chain.
