Hi Ben,
I don't think there is much wrong with 75027. I've just gone from Bala Junction to Arenig, on the line to Blaenau, which looks like a steep climb on the chart! It had 7 Mk1s in tow; speed wasn't great, but it was a case of juggling reverser and regulator, and using the sanders most of the time. For most of the time, steam generation exceeded usage - dampers on 100%. Thanks, Ben, for pointing me to this route - it made me quite out of breath! I must try that part of the route you've shown next.
Cheers,
Ged

I'd like to appologise to rick gibbs for all i've said some of it not being to helpful or apreishitive enough to the hard work he's put in to the loco.

Thank you, I will now hope to put you right, that last picture
you put up told me everything "they say a picture is worth a thousand
words"....you are not winding the reverser back to adjust the steam
usage rate when you see the steam pressure chest start to match the
steam generation you need to adjust your setting either back off on
the regulator or wind reverser back.
Those other models you use as has been said follow the lines of the original
Scotsman model which never used any coal or water all the files I do should
so they have been well tuned up to do so but you will have to drive them like
the real thing to use as little steam as possible and not kill your fireman off.
The developers never got it quiet right they based a lot of their steam generation
on speed BLAST would have been a better way to do it, thats why in the files I play
around with see the blast parameter figures lowered to as much as 4.5 in some cases
depends on engine type and the size of the blast pipe diameters.
Anyway thats all that needs to be said.
Rick

Hi Rick and Ben,
I have just completed that part of the route Ben was commenting about. I did it in Explore mode but kept to the timings of the Activity, with 7 Mk1s (from the route itself) in tow. Not knowing the first thing about driving a steam locomotive, except what I've learnt from MSTS (!), I seemed very realistic to me. Bala Hub's not like a flat route, where you can just set the controls and away you go; you really have to concentrate on all the changing values in the F5 display and adjust the controls accordingly. It can be quite challenging, but enjoyable, and satisfying when you've completed the task.
Many thanks,
Cheers,
Ged
