I can usually set a standard class loco to the way I drive, but the the 4-6-0 model seems to be a bit different. So what is the best way to drive these up hills then?

Can you explain what you mean by this statement above?

I can ussaully set the reverser and regulator to work together for example If i'm going up a 1in 49 hill I can set a Standard 4 to go up with a regulator setting of 80% and a reverser setting of 55% cutoff and I could let it work away to the top but with 75027 i won't let you do that as it just stalls and won't move anymore not even after you wait for the boiler pressure to go up again it just slips and then rolls back.

Right got that, have you released the engine brake thats KEY [
Have you returned the train brake to Running
Have you opened dampers KEY M
Have you put the sanders on, as I remember I needed them on
on that part of the route, also if your running the BIN system
you need to hold the sanding key down unless there is a control
within the cab which you can use the mouse to open valve.

I've programmed the steam brake ([) out of the .eng file so I don't have to keep taking it off. I've tried the dampers (M) and the outcome was the same. I don't think the loco has dampers.
never needed sand on the bala that much I normally just hammer the bank.

Yes it has dampers what cab are you using the cab I have for the download
is the default scotsman and anyway the M key must be pressed.

How fast are you going when you do this 55% cut-off and 80% regulator.

Where did you start your run and where should it finished, whats the name
of the area where this bank is.

:o

PS what else have you altered?

The one of the elr's 76079 standard 4 as it's more in keeping with the real thing.

80% is the reg setting and 55% is the cutoff thats correct about a steady 10 -15mph with lots of noise on the chimmey

If I recall, 76079s eng file isn't far removed from the default Flying Scotsman one - so the 75027 one will be far more authentic.

I didn't realise that the .eng file was set up to work like that. I appologise  I was saying the ELR loco was more realistic. Iwas saying how come i can get that one up the hill yet I can't get 75027 up the same hill dispite the fact that 75027 is bigger and much bigger at that. I'm puzzled that's all. I'm not having ago at anyone's I've never been that kind of person and never will be.

Hi Ben

I've edited your post (twice now, so stop trying to fix it yourself :) )as your screenshots had spaces in their names, which causes them not to display. Best to use underscores (_) to fill the spaces when you post them, but it's all fixed now. :D
