Key sequence to change to rear loco cab
Hi,
I have just reloaded MSTS so that I can use the North Wales Coast route, but I cannot find any key sequence to press to change from the front driving cab to the rear cab (i.e. changing ends.) I am sure that I used to be able to do this, but now can find no reference to it. I carried out a search, but everything seemed to apply to writing a file when creating a loco/DMU, not for when you are driving an existing loco/DMU.
Regards,
Nick

Re: Key sequence to change to rear loco cab
If you're changing cabs of the same loco, you need to be in the cab, apply the brakes, set the power handle to zero, select neutral and switch off the lights.
Then just press the "1" key and if you're using the BIN files you will change to the other cab.
If you want to change ends on say, an HST, you need to press F9, place the mouse cursor over the rear power car, select it and press "1" again.

Hi Nick,
Welcome back.
This is an MSTSBin function. Front page of UKTS.
If the NWC stock is not set up for swaping cabs you will need the rearcab creator.
DMU rear cabs need to be .eng file with a .cvf
Hope this helps/jogs your memory.
Good Luck
Doug

Re: Key sequence to change to rear loco cab
Hi Doug and Chris,
I don't remember anything about a .bin file, but I have loaded it and created the rv.cvf files as told. However, still no luck when I followed Chris's suggestions. I have tried a 37 and a 158 without success. I am sure that I used to be able to change cabs before!
I used to drive out of Chester for FNW and am really looking forward to being able to drive the route again. I have been trying to create the route for myself, but don't know how to create the scenery, so the N Wales Coast route becoming available has made my life a lot easier. Everything is instantly recognisable and a great job has been done.

Nick,
You need to install MSTSBin before you will be able to change cabs. If you could do it before, you must have had MSTSBin installed. Look on the UKTS front page for the download.

Re: Key sequence to change to rear loco cab
Hi Nick,
I will put my neck in the noose and say, Cab swapping was not possible in MSTS before the Bin patch. So I do not know how it was achieved. As Bob has just posted.
Following the Manual_eng.doc that came with the MSTSBin Patch download has all the installation info.
Did you get a Requires Train.exe 1.4 error when installing the Bin patch.
You did make the rear cab views in the CABVIEW of each loco concerned?
Come Back

Re: Key sequence to change to rear loco cab
Hi Doug and Chris,
I must have been getting confused with Rail Simulator about changing ends then, it's old age (rust in the brain!
) I un-installed the MSTSbin patch and re-installed it, and I am now able to change ends. I think that I made the mistake of installing the bin patch before installing MSTS upgrade, another senior moment.
Thanks very much for your help, I now look forward to driving trains on my old stamping ground without Management interference!

Hi Nick,
Glad you sorted it.
Just out of interest which BinPatch are you using?
Good Luck

Re: Key sequence to change to rear loco cab
Hi Nick,
That is the 'Last stable'
I run with Patch 1.8.052113en and have had no perceeved problems. The patches are simple to change, so try the newest. Just remember to uninstall the one in use (via the unist.exe in the root of Train Simulator) before installing another.
Good Luck

Re: Key sequence to change to rear loco cab
Hi Nick,
No worries.
That version also has an opening doors function ctrl 7/9. (If the model was built to use it, some LUL stock was) and improved lighting physics.
Again if it is built into the engine files.
Good Luck
