Hi Neil, welcome back to the world of trainsimming, I have had to start from scratch with reloading MSTS when I had to replace both my Motherboard and Hard Drive last year, so I can only make the following suggestions based on my personal like of how I want MSTS to look and operate on screen.
What you may like will differ slightly in screen presentation but the gist of my list is correct.
1) Go to
http://steam4me.railpage.org.au/trainsi ... TS_updates to get the package that removes the need for the disc to be in the computer drive
2) Download the Tweaks Utils and Improvements File from the main screen and this has MSTS_Pro and contained inside are two useful items 1) No Logo, 2)Fixes Uk Crossing Gate error
3) Go to the Section about MSTSBin and install the latest version
4) Download and install the following
 | | | New semi-transparent driving aids [288004 bytes] - guimod11.zip File ID: 15744 Date: 24 Dec 2006 - 1840 Downloads |
|
 | | | MSTS Standardized global tsection.dat file Build 00042UK [325489 bytes] - Tsection42UK.zip File ID: 13758 Date: 05 Jan 2012 - 25066 Downloads |
|
 | | | Fix for the activity unpacker [3776 bytes] - tsunpack.zip File ID: 409 Date: 31 Dec 2001 - 8359 Downloads |
|
You can later on install loads more tools like Trainstore, Activity Analyser and Route Riter, so like all the above read about them before you install them and only have the ones you want.
