Eng files beginning with "#" and those that don't

Post by energize »

When opening the folder of a locomotive in Windows Explorer I've noticed that there are two eng files: "MT_Class86_2_8638" and "#MT_Class86_2_8638". What's the difference?

Usually the hash version is an AI non driveable version with no cabs and a cut down sound set.

The # version uses far less memory in the sim meaning that you can have a greater amount of AI or loose consists in an activity before encountering memory issues. A lot of this is now less important with the arrival of BIN now though.
