Class 90 cab problems

Post by energize »

Hi, I've downloaded Virgin 90013, along with the associate sounds (Class 87/90 sound set) and cabview. I followed the cabview's readme in setting up a common cab (cabview already aliased to class 90) but when using it in MSTS - no cabview! Could anyone help me out on this one?

Have a look at the loco's eng file for the cabview line and make sure the cab view is exactly where the file is looking for it, and you have the syntax right. Usually you have to have a folder within the common.cab folder, with the same name as the loco. You should be able to see what its looking for from the eng file.

I've looked in the common.cab folder and the class 90 cab is there. All I've done is in the "Cabview" line of the eng. file, I've capitalised the C in "Class90C.cvf. Hope this works

Did you copy a file called

class90C.cvf

as shown at number 3
1 Unzip [90cabV1.zip] and rename [CABVIEW] to [90cab].
2 Put [90cab] into the folder of [common.cab].
3 Put [class90C.cvf] into the folder of [CABVIEW] of your trainset.
4 Put eng-file into your trainset.
5 Change next line of eng-file.

CabView ( class90.cvf ) -----> CabView ( class90C.cvf )

Yeah I have done but it still doesn't work. I'll try reinstalling the aforementioned class 90 to see if that helps

You shouldn't need to do that.

Just backtrack a bit - in your Trainset\Common.cab folder what is the name of your Class 90 cab folder? It should be 90cab. My 90cab folder contains 18 .ace files, a number of .cvf files and a readme text file - does yours?

Next, in the engine folder there should be a sub-folder named Cabview, and within that should be the file class90C.cvf

Finally, what does the Cabview line in your engine file say - it should read:

CabView ( class90C.cvf )

One piece of this jigsaw must be wrong in your installation.

If that doesn't work try this method down load the class 90 cab file open it copy the cabview into the cl90 you want to get the cab for, then open eng file, find the filel ine with cabview in it and change it to class90.cvf make sure you put inside these, like this.

( " class90.cvf " ) thats how it should look.

Between us we will get you there in the end

Ok I've changed the Cabview line to "CabView" in the loco's eng. file as well as renaming the CABVIEW file in the common.cab folder to CabView. Still no luck. What do I do next?

First copy the cabiew from the 90cabV1 folder into the Virgin class 90, now go to the loco's eng file and open it,scroll down to the cab view line.then follow the instructions below exactly.

Don't put cabview in side the brackets in the cabview line of the eng file. This is a direct copy of the cabview line in the eng file from one of my class 90's .
CabView ( class90.cvf )

If you do it exactly the same as this it should work, mine does.
