Hi,
Its been a while since i used msts so please excuse me if this is really obvious to everyone else.
Im trying to run an activity on dorset coast V5 called Homeward Bound involving a SWT 159 from Weymouth Quay to Dorchester West.
Not far into thhe activity is a reverse point which must be triggered for the signal to change from red to green. How do you trigger the reverse point? is there a keyboard command to use before releasing the brakes on the train and edging forwards?
Thanks

Re: Reverse Points
Hi
I think this is called the 'MSTS shuffle', you go over it then slightly backwards then forwards again.
Cheers

Re: Reverse Points
If a reverse isnt actually required, ie the reverse point has been placed to break the onward path only, then you need do nothing except run across it. if its placed before a signal you must pass it fully before stopping for the signal, otherwise as Jon says, you will have to do a shuffle. If its been correctly placed though there shouldnt be any need to do that as long as you can run across it, so it completely disappears in the track monitor, before coming to a halt.

Hi Varcoe88, as Lad491 says unless instructed in the Briefing , you need to slow down when the R.P. is nearing the bottom of the Track Monitor display and when it disappears stop and reverse.
Some Briefings tell you to ignore the R.P. as it is to release an AI Train and this may pass you by while you are stationary in a station or come from another siding/platform ahead of you to add realism to the display.
I have had to do a MSTS shuffle when you have the way on a single line but the Path ahead is blocked by a Red Signal because another later starting train is coming down the track.
This then meets an opposite Red Signal and you get a standoff, once you perform the shuffle the AI path clears to the loop line where it is supposed to go and after it passes you, the signal ahead changes to green and you can proceed.

Re: Reverse Points
Hi. I remember getting stuck at a Red signal and posting almost the same query as this back in 2005.
I was given all the help, but couldn't see the wood for the trees.
To my mind, uneducated in MSTS lore as I was, a "reverse point" was just that a piece of track-work.
I spent ages searching the track in front of the Loco in explore mode, never to find it.
scampispeedway, Bob, has given the answerer very clearly for someone newish to to Sim.
It's like the new PC user looking for that "anykey".
