Just recently I have had activities crashing when I try to save on F2. I have even tried to save via the escape which is ok 'til I press "save" when it crashes and I get the dreaded "send don't send". This has happened on the Bala route namely "1020 SO Barmouth - Birkenhead and Corwen - Denbigh. I can save at the beginning of the activity but somewhere down the line it crashes which is very annoying.
I had this happen on other routes as well very intermittently. Is this something very technical or has something gone wrong in the root trainsim? I have bin installed.
Any advice greatly welcomed.

Re: Activity crashing when saved
Hi DESPATCH
Locate the saves folder within the main Train Simulator folder and delete the contents.
Load a route and do both a `quicksave` F2 key followed by a dialog `Save Activity` `Esc` key.
Then report back if the error is still present.
Kindest regards

Re: Activity crashing when saved
I find the best way to prevent MSTS from crashing is to turn the amount of Sounds down to Med/Min in the options page
I hope that helps

Re: Activity crashing when saved
I have done quite a bit of work on this but the answer still evades me. I tried clearing all the saves in the folder and managed to save en route but when I tried to reload it crashed. I then found myself stuck on a red signal for no apparent reason. I looked at the AI traffic and found that it was blocking my path so I amended it. This was ok until I tried to load and it crashed again. This doesn't happen at the beginning of the activity but seems to be random. I have turned some of the sound down and have used minimum acceleration on dxdiag. I have also tried changing the Global soundcfg as follows:
Sound System 5 200 20 314etc.
This is really maddening!!!!!

Re: Activity crashing when saved
Hi DESPATCH
Check your GLOBAL folder for the following four files:
common.iom common.txt
general.iom general text
Check in the WIDGETS folder for popwid_l.dat file.
If the files above check out OK, the only other possiblity is a corrupt .act file preventing any saves or reloading.
Contrary to what some may believe, the sound system parameters have absolutely nothing to do with this problem.
I would also advise you to re-enable the directx acceleration.
Kindest regards
Ray
This problem is associated with the initialisation of the F2 key and `Esc`key for the dialog button `Save Activity` from the IOM and IOM text source files.DESPATCH wrote:Just recently I have had activities crashing when I try to save on F2. How you amended it, if not using the Activity Editor, may have resulted in the .act file becoming corrupt, a typing or syntax error may be present.DESPATCH wrote:I looked at the AI traffic and found that it was blocking my path so I amended it.

Re: Activity crashing when saved
Hi Ray
I have checked the IOM files and they seem to be ok although I not sure what I am looking for. There is mention of F2 so I assume all is ok. There seems to be something wrong with the activity as the AI train seems to gain the right of way and I am unable to move and that must be the reason my saves crash. I have changed this traffic and have now reached my destination with saves and no crashing! I remember reading somewhere about making AI traffic wait at crossing points but can't remember where it was.
