Re: MSTS BIN
Hi Peter
Manually delete the 'MSTSBin_Backup' and 'Translated DLLs' folders.
Cheers

Re: MSTS BIN
Peter,
You will find the folders Jon refers to in your Train Simulator folder. Delete them, then re-install the Bin patch.
You presumably know how to install Bin and to change the .dll files.

Re: MSTS BIN
Hi Peter,
You said you had to re-install MSTS. After you'd uninstalled the original, did you delete the Train Simulator folder? As MSTSBin complains that it is already installed, it seems that the original folder is still there. When you uninstall MSTS, it only removes the files it knows about and if any other files or folders are left in the Train Simulator folder, it won't be deleted. It's always best to check that folder is removed before re-installing.
Cheers,
Ged

Re: MSTS BIN
Peter,
Go to Start on your desktop then to Program files>Microsoft Games> Train Simulator. In that folder you will find all the Train Simulator files, those which came with the original game, and the others which have been put in as add-ons of various kinds, including the Bin files mentioned before.
You can do either of two things.
1) You can look for the "MSTSBin_backup" and the "Translated dlls" files and delete them and re-install bin, or
2) If you right click on the Train Simulator folder you will get a drop down menu in which there is "delete" Click on that and the Train Simulator folder and its contents will be removed to your PCs RecycleBin. You then have a "clean sheet" and can re-install Train Simulator and bin patch and other recommended or necessary additions
Try 1) first. It should work; if not try 2)

Re: MSTS BIN
Hi Peter,
Sorry you're having trouble; I'll try and go through what you can check. First of all I apologise if it appears as if 'I'm trying to teach my grandmother to suck eggs'! These instructions apply to Windows XP since I don't have Vista installed, but I think they'll be similar - maybe someone with that knowledge will put me right!
1. Left click START
2. Left click on My Computer
3. Double left click on the drive where your MSTS is installed
4. If it is installed in the default location
a) Double left click on the Program Files folder
b) Double left click on the Microsoft Games folder
c) Double left click on the Train Simulator folder
5. If it's installed in different location
a) Double left click on the appropriate folder
6. Look down the list of files for one called something like Uninst_MSTS Patch 1.7.exe (the actual name will depend on what version of MSTSBin you're using)
7. If it is there, then MSTSBin is installed.
8. If it's not there, look further up the screen for a folder called MSTSBIN_BACKUP; if it is present, then this is what is making MSTSBin think it's installed. Delete this folder, then try to reinstall MSTSBin.
9. If the MSTSBIN_BACKUP folder and the Uninst_MSTS Patch file are both present, then there may be some corruption within them; the best thing to do is to double left click the Uninst_MSTS Patch exe file (not the text file!). This will remove the Patch - make sure that it has also removed the MSTS_BACKUP folder. Then reinstall MSTSBin.
Hope this helps,
Cheers,
Ged
PS Sorry Tony, you beat me to it!!
