Hi PGH60, it is simple to do this and you will need to do it sometime in the future as other Routes need the Version 38 for them to work.
Make a copy of your original and store it safely away somewhere else, then copy the Version 38 Tsection into your Globals Folder in MSTS and overwrite the original.
That is all there is to do.

Re: LYME REGIS BRANCH
Bob,
Allow me to spell it out in simple terms.
1) Download Tsection.dat, File library ID 13758
2) Unzip the downloaded file - you will then have a folder with two files inside it , a "ReadMe" which tells you all the things included in the Tsection (you don't have to worry about this ReadMe) and a file called "tsection.dat"
3) Go to "Start" on your computer then in turn, as they appear in the lists in front of you, click on "My Computer", "Local Disc X " (where 'X' is the name of the disc drive where you have Train Simulator) , "Program Files", "Microsoft Games", "Train Simulator". and finally on "Global"
4) Look for a file called "tsection.dat" in the list of files in Global, right click on it and then click on "Rename" - the name "tsection.dat" will turn blue.
5) Point your cursor into the blue coloured name and left click on it. The blue colour will disappear and you will see a flashing vertical line somewhere in the name in the box.
6) Use the ← and → arrows on your keyboard to move the vertical line to the front of the word "tsection" and then type "0riginal" (without the inverted commas) so that the name in the box is now "Originaltsection" Move your cursor anywhere in the Global window and left click. The box around the word "Originaltsection.dat" disappears.
7) Go back to where you have downloaded the new tsection.dat files and right click on the "tsection.dat" file, then in the drop down menu which appears click on "Copy"
Go back to the Train Simulator Global folder, put your cursor on a blank space and right click. From the drop down menu click on "Paste"
9) You have finished, tsection 38 is now in the proper place in the Global file and you can close everything down
All this might seem very complicated, but if you follow it through step by step it is quite easy . It might be easier if you can print or write down these instructions!
And you will be able to rename files a and do other things in the future. Look, I am 86½ years old - if I can do it you can do it!

Hi Tony, I am sorry but I am not the one asking how to do it PGH60 is, I made this change at least a couple of years ago and was so easy even for a complete novice like me.

Bob,
I am sorry that I misled you! I was apologising for apparently suggesting that your advice to the client was inadequate!
I know only too well how to beginners like I was not all that long ago, some very simple things can look daunting if you have never had reason to try them.

Same way you'd make a copy of anything. Right click, select Copy. then right click in an empty space in the same folder and select Paste. windows will create another version of the file with the word Copy in the filename. Should you need to use the copy to replace a messed up file, just rename it and Robert is once more the male sibling of your parent.PGH60 wrote:Thanks for all the information chaps i am going to have a go but before i do can you please tell me how to make a copy of the original files please. Re: LYME REGIS BRANCH
Hi Tony, thanks for reply I didn't put any more info. than I thought was necessary because I have always known how to copy files from one location to another, even before I bought my own.
This obviously comes from years of working with computers at work and you forget that there are people who haven't had that opportunity to familiarise themselves of the ins and outs of computer files.
