Hi
Same route...... map will only change on version3.
As I posted, there's a TM map that comes with the route.... once you have it installed.

Are the stations on the route realistic e.g does Manchester Piccadilly look like the real thing?

Now that's something you'll have to decide for yourself....

And I have two comments to make about your question...

Firstly, you'll find that virtually all of the UKTS Community routes are modelled on real life...or as near to real life as the builder can get.

Secondly, if I was the builder of North West England, I'd not be too chuffed to read such a question....think about it!

I got the game today and I have to say I am quite dissapointed with it! The realisim of the stations is well not very realistic at all for example preston railway station is just a few black large black platforms with a few roofs over the platforms and tracks but if you go to preston there is a large buliding on platforms 3/4, there is a small cafe on platform 1/2 and on the add on route there is no ramp that leads to the station downwards on both the front of the station and the side. This is a similar story in the all the stations. I will keep on playing on it and hopefully I will like it more in the future!

couple of points - it's not going to be photorealistic - that would probably kill most people's computers.

Try building a route the size of this yourself. Then criticise those who have - noting that in some places, scenery may be reduced for performance issues.

If the route gives a good feel of the real route, then I'm not too fussed about the accuracy of the scenery as I'm too busy keeping an eye on my speed and the signals rather than looking out for WHSmith on the side of Reading Station.

Good thing about MSTS is its easy to add to routes.... customise your version.
So long as you don't alter tracks.... all activities will run.
You also have to remember NWE 2 has been around 5 years.

Yes, but I have every right to be dissapointed as I have paid for the product! Yes it may have been only £4.99 but I still paid for it. I know how hard it is to build a route and also that the creator may have had to change the scenery for performance issues but I am sure that a few things could have been placed on the route to make the experience more realistic. I have got to say that I went back on it yesterday and found it more enjoyable. Going back to what I said earlier I have every right to complain as I paid for the product!

you didn't pay for the route - you paid for the cost of creating the CD and postage. You also got 1 months premium (£3.00) included, so for your £1.99 you got postage, plus a professionally created CD. You could have avoided paying £1.99 and downloaded everything instead.

It still "amuses"me that the argument between the representation of a railway and exact replication is still alive and kicking.

When I dabbled in model railways in the 1970's arguments often occured over rivet counting, etc!!!

From a personal point point of view I am more than happy to accept a broad brush representation of a route, activity and stock model - although the degree of accuracy and realism that is achieved by those in the know is much appreciated. It also gives one a target to meet.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and constructive comments should be welcome by all.

In my opinion the Cambrian 2 Route is the most "realistic" route that I have come across.
Having said that, I could pick on dozens of things that are not right with it , especially in the Harlech/Barmouth area which I know extremely well.

The most "realistic" parts of it to me are East of Machynlleth, which I have only seen from the train, and that's when I'm not asleep or ordering from the trolley!!

I wanted the upcoming North Wales Coast line to depict the 2 small pubs underneath Bangor Station in full detail, but I'm absolutely certain that it will not!!

Hi
Some of my favourite routes are ones that I don't know well, then you can just enjoy them.
Or if necessary add the bits that I need to be there, such as refueling points etc.
I'm looking forwards to NW Coast, but for the stock as much as the route.
I haven't got the Cambrian 2, but have the Cambrian 1.
