Train Simulator Sound has completely disapperaed

Post by abirm873 »

Hi Guys
I am currently playing the Cambrian 2 Dukedog over Talerddig pack.
However when i loaded this i realised that all the sounds have completely disappeared. I exited, then loaded another from the same pack and low and behold no sound. Then i tried another route- The Far North Line and there was no sound on that route either. My speakers are turned up and not muted as i get the sound for the microsoft advert when the sim loads up. I am running the bin patch and have the latest t-section etc. My sound card is a built in one for my 10 year old pc.
Can you please help guys,
Cheers Ashley :D

It might be worth double checking that the sound settings in Setup haven't been altered by the installation. Unlikely.....but you never know!

It always pays to go to Start>All Programs>Accessories>Volume Control and check that none of the inputs are muted.
Some programs such as Media Player alter these setiings without telling you.

Hi Ashley,
I notice that your machine is 10 years old. When I ordered Cambrian 2 my old machine was 6 years old and I actually enquired at 3DTrainstuff as to whether the route would run.
They told me that it would but that I may have problems at Shrewsbury Station. Can I suggest that you check whether the sound works on the Cambrian 1 after a fresh reboot/startup of your machine. I know from experience that after a long session running various programs on a PC that the available memory decreases. This would be more serious the older the PC, although I have noticed it on my (relatively new) PC.

Cheers

Hi People
Thanks for all youre help, but ive cured the problem by doing a reinstall, i needed to reinstall because my trainsim folder was touching 5GB and i only had 7 routes installed(5GB is quite a lot on my computer.)
Martin, i can usually run Cambrian 2 and get decent frame rates of about 10fps in the countryside, and occasional stuttering in built up areas with quite a few static consists.

Hi ashley,

Are you using Train Store, if not I recommend you do.

By using the 'Easy' tab it will load one Route and one Activity and store the rest when running MSTS, thus freeing up more resources on your P/C.
