Hi folks I've got a question to ask.

I've downloaded a couple of the Britannia models by Paul Mitchell and the Maroon Set of Mk 1's by Ian Morgan and Dave Roles.

When I try to make a consist with these models I find I can't couple them together.

The Britannia's have Bar and Chain couplings but the coaches are automatic.

Can someone please advise?

I'm new and still finding my feet.

Hi John
You can use Route Riter to change couplings.
Or you can edit them using Wordpad or similar.
The actual coupling statement in MSTS means very little, some people just use the difference to differentiate between steam type stock and modern.
Finally Conbuilder can make consists with different couplings, but if uncoupled in the game you cannot re-couple.

This is slightly off-topic but as it's somewhat related....

I've always "standardised" all my stock to use automatic couplings, using Route-Riter. However, I'd love to have no stock compatibility issues at all, so the question is - is it safe to standardise brake types in the same way? If so, does it matter which type I use? (air/vacuum/single etc)

It just depends on whether you like to try to 'drive' in MSTS or run trains.
If your changing all your stock brakes, then beware that just changing the 'type' would result in some strange brakes.
The easiest to drive are air brakes, although these would not appear on most steam engines.
