Fuel point.

Post by ThomasTelford »

Hello everyone. :D

Got a problem when i try to fuel up a diesel locomotive.I go to the fuel point and press the 'T' key to try to fuel up but nothing is happening,i've moved the loco forwards and back, (it took a bit of time to find the right point on the loco the first time too) a little bit at a time and still no luck, the fuel nozzle is moving out but it's not pumping diesel and on a couple of occasions i have pressed No'5 key to see how much fuel i have left when at the fuel point and have seen the message Fuel point 0% :( How do you go about refualing the fuel point?

Be most greatfull if anyone has any ideas on this.ThomasTelford. :fadein:

Hi
If this is during an activity then you need to specify ammount of fuel held in the fuel point.
If its generally on the route, then you need to permanently alter the FPs properties in RE.
The other thing I've found, if you've only just added the FP to the route, you need to add a second somewhere else.
Cheers

Hi Thomas

Open the .eng file with a unicode text editor, Wordpad or similar and locate the IntakePoint statement.
IntakePoint ( z w Type ) where z is the offset from the centre of the model, w is the width of the filling point and Type is the type of fuel.
Eg. IntakePoint ( 3.33 0.4 FuelDiesel ) 3.33 metres from the centre of the model towards the front of the model, the filling point is 0.4 metres wide and the Type is FuelDiesel.
Using Shape Viewer:

In conjunction with MSTS Measuring Tool:

Is a great way to physically see where the actual filling point is located on the model.

Kindest regards

Hi

Well first I would try as Ray suggested, that is to make sure you can refuel the loco...........although if the fuel point shows up in the HUD (in pink) then your at the correct position.
If you need to check the loco, use TM V4 or Dorset V5 or P2P, as I know the FPs work on those routes.
Also you won't be able to refuel a loco that is full.
To enable the fuel point in RE, go to the fuel point and highlight it, then ask for its properties.
You'll then see the boxes you need to enable.
Don't try this on MTs GE as they are only 'dummy' Fuel points.

Hi Thomas
I`am afraid there is no other solution but to follow Jon`s advice, since having checked the refueling points at Huntingdon Depot the contents are indeed empty.

Just to help you on your way the coordinates for the Huntingdon Depot in the Route Editor are as follows:
Long. -0.22666 Lat. 52.40922
Select the camera window to place the coordinates, then Jump button.
Select the Mode window, use the Selection button, top left corner, place the pointer over the fuel pump, turns red when highlighted, left click to wire frame, right click for Properties, Pickup Tab, enter 1000.0 in the Content. Do not change any other parameters.
Likewise with the other fuel pump, save the route.
A quick way to find the coordinates is to open the Activity Editor and locate the area you are interested in and place the pointer in that vicinity, note the coordinates Long. and Lat. then use these in the Camera window in the Route Editor, saves having to scan through the route in the Route Editor to find the location.
Just a final word of caution, always backup your route before you make any changes using the Route Editor, if things go pear shaped you will have the backup to try again.
You should now be able to refuel at Huntingdon. :P

Kindest regards
