If you have several routes installed (especially some of the larger one) and are not using trainstore, the editor can take up to 35 minutes to load as it has to read in every path, service, consist and piece of stock before continuing.

Error messages it throws up are usually due to an item of stock or a service looking for a consist which no longer exists, maybe because you created one then deleted it. Normally if they arent too many you can just click ok and continue on. Obviously if you have lots then you will need to sort out your trainset folder first.

The editor normally only works in 16 bit colour so you may well have to change your PC display settings when using the editor, also it can have difficulty if you have all options selected in the view screen of the editor. Try opening one of the default routes and turning off as many views as you can live without, sidings, siding names, traffic paths etc. Once it loads you can turn on again any you need.

Laurie

This is getting more interesting by the minute - done as suggested and unchecked everything in the AE all that was left was a pile of dots no tracks - closed and re-opened still no tracks grrrr (looking for sledgehammer)

No need for that lol :)

Have you tried removing the HWRenderer keys for the activity editor in the registry and restarting the PC. Sounds like something has become corrupt.
