Traffic

Post by mon2008 »

Hi

I'm new to MSTS. Looking on Youtube you guys have awesome routes with loads of AI traffic. How do you achieve this!? I feel so lonely on the track on my own! I was thinking of getting the “Great Eastern: London to Ipswich” add-on tomorrow (if I can find it in a shop!). Do the activities on the routes included with this add-on include high AI traffic?

If it’s a real hassle to increase the AI traffic then I’m thinking about getting Rail Simulator instead. Can’t quite make my mind up at the moment though!

Regards
Jon.

Great Eastern is very, very good but also demanding on the PC hardware. There is a fair bit of AI traffic on the activities.

There are other £4.50 community CDs available from the CD ordering page I quoted in the other thread such as Thames - Mersey and Dorset Coast that have high levels of AI traffic on some of the activities. Thames - Mersey comes with about 150 activities as far as I recall. UKTS ship CDs of Friday and Tuesday so ordering tonight means dispatch tomorrow and (postman willing) delivery Saturday. Any one of those community CDs gets you a month premium membership as well so plenty of downloads available.
Kindest regards

Even less Traffic on that at the moment, hopefully it will get better over the next 12 - 18 months :) Stick with MSTS and Dorset Coast or Thames Mersey as Jon suggests as a good entry level addon's. Later you can decide whether to move up to RS. :)

Hi mon2008, are you just exploring the route instead of doing an Activity, because in Exploring the route there is no AI traffic to get in the way.
As you get use to handling the various types of Trains and Consists, you then have a go at the Easy Activities before progressing to the medium and finally the hard ones.
I have found the level of A1 even in the Easy Activities varies from route to route but at least they all add to the realism of the period.
I did a so called easy one today and was held for nearly 10mins waiting at a stop signal on a single line south before a goods train came through to allow me to continue.
This of course through a spanner in the works as far as keeping up with the timetable for the next stop as I had just left the last station on time.
Stick with MSTS because without doubt, I am enjoying it more and more as each day passes and if you have any problems the forum members are only to willing to help as I have found out. :D

Thanks for the replies!

I cant decide on which one to get first; London and the South East or Great Eastern: London to Ipswich!? Both look really good. My only concern is that Great Eastern: London to Ipswich looks (PC) resource heavy. I've got 4 hours and 5 minutes to decide (if i want this delivered before 1pm tomorrow from Amazon!) Can anyone help me out!?

Regards!

They are both pretty resource heavy. I'd stick to a community route available here for just £4.50 - a lot cheaper than the payware ones, and see how they run first. The two already recommended are excellent routes.
