Cannot reinstall MSTS.....

I am on the verge of building a PC that I will ONLY use for MSTS.

Build it with older Video Card etc but just have a 3Ghz Chip and 2 Gig of RAM, I hope that is the way forward 'cos right now I am as frustrated as hell getting it to run on a $300 Video Card......

The annoying thing is for some other programs I actually need the newer drivers, so a seperate PC might be the way I go....

Ok, latest update (though not much of one), been through the AMD/ATI support team with very little joy - basically told me to check my PSU and patches, and then to check with Microsoft (hmm, suspect they're not going to be offering too much more support on MSTS). Told them about other reports of Catalyst 7.11 being the issue, and when rolled back to 7.9, it worked fine (with my card being a new HD3870, I don't have that option), and so they told me to fill in a "Catalyst Crew driver feedback form", which I did and have heard zero back about.

So unless they sort out whatever it is in 7.12, looks like MSTS is going in the bin, which is a real shame. Unless I send the ATI Card back and get a nVidia one, but then it's not technically faulty is it.

Surprised that not more people have come across this issue, guess not many of them are playing MSTS with an HD3870 or similar....

OK, downloaded the 7.12 drivers last night, and low and behold, the missing text is back!!

Just to be clear, I only downloaded the display driver, then used the ATI Tray tools app instead of the full catalyst install, but fingers crossed, it seems to be working. Now I've got to re-patch and re-install everything, including a first stab at Train Store I think.....

If anyone else struggling wants any info, please don't hesitate to ask......

I have tried all 8 versions of drivers for my Video Card, driving me insane, I have got the text back with an old version but now the frame rate is dreadful.

Oh well, after Xmas I will build another machine, maybe just use the on-board video....lol

Sorry to hear that widescreen, fingers crossed you'll find a solution. Maybe dig an Amiga out of the attic.......

Well I dedided to waste several more hours playing with Video Drivers before building another machine.

With the 7 month old drivers, MSTS runs, not great but it runs.

I sit in Kings Cross Station ECE 1, and I am looking at 12 frames per second, I can even live with this. I pull out, heading North, of course, and before I reach Finsbury Park, I am at 2 or 3 FPS, I cannot live with that. I have just installed Great Eastern and my initial reaction was good, 25 FPS sat at a station, as high as 35 at times heading out of Liverpool Street.

So I got to thinking it is a European Bahn Add On issue, which I do not really want it to be, I love there products.

I run Great Eastern for maybe 2 hours with no problems, then it shuts down, putting MSTS down on the bottom Toolbar, clicking on it, it continues to run, for a while. Now it minimises after anything from 1 minute to 30 minutes, almsot as frustrating as the slow FPS on the East Coast Routes.

Anyone with ideas what is going on I would love to know....

PC Specs are:

Vista Home Premium
Intel P4 Dual Core 2.8Ghz
2047 MB Ram
ASUS EAH2600XT Video Card, no matter what I do with these settings, nothing changes.
250 Gig Drive 7200rpm.

Looking for any idea's at all.
