Could anyone please tell me where my download went?

Post by natty »

Hello

I'm a new member of UKTrainSim and as such, I'm new to the download process. I downloaded a file for North West England - README FIRST from the download depot, and when the download was ready I looked for it, but I can't find it anywhere...

Could you please let me know where these downloads go?
Thanks
natty

PS
I presume they are stored somewhere in my Temporary Internat Files folder? Any help you could give me would be great...

You should be able to select the destination of the download when you click on the 'download' button - if this does not happen then maybe your browser has failed / whatever the technical term is when it doesn't load.

I have just tied again and it does not let me choose a directory. It only comes up with the number of dowloads in the queue etc...

You need to wait until the download is ready, by waiting until you are near the front of the queue. When you do get to the front of the queue, you will be able to download.

Alternatively, you could get premium membership, either on it's own for good value prices or by buying a community CD and getting a month's premium free!

Tim

EDIT: have a look at the download section here for more advice.

It's a customisable default in either your browser or Internet Options preferences. You specify where downloads are placed by default, and that's where you go look for them. If you use IE, that's controlled by the Internet Options control panel; other browsers and download managers do it from within their own preferences or options module.

You should be able to find your lost download by Searching on the ukts filename. The browser must ahve put it somewhere - you just didn't notice when it told you.

Hi Barry

We're not sure that Natty has actually downloaded anything yet - I think he is still waiting in the queue for non-Premium downloads.

Alan

Please have a look at my railway photograph site - http://alan-lewis-chambers.fotopic.net/ - lots of British steam and early diesels
Alan

My railway photos are now on Google + - links to the albums are in this thread http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... 9&t=149558

Lots of steam and early diesels from 1959 to 1963.

I am with Barrie on this. I too have "lost" downloads on occasion but going to Windows Search and entering the file name finds it for me.

That's what I get for being a Premium member almost from day one; never having had to experience the d/l queue, I never even considered that aspect.

If you right click on the "Download Now" button, rather than left clicking, you can pick "save target as " from the dropdown menu and specify where to save it to. I have a downloads folder and always select that :)
