White triangles, but in XP

There's already a thread about this in the Vista forum (apologies to the mods if this is a problem) but I decided to ask here since this isn't Vista related so might have a better chance of it being read by non-Vista users.

Ok, here's the story. I have a GeForce 8600GT card running under XP Pro SP2. I'm getting the same flashing white triangles as reported by Vista users with GeForce 7 cards. It's the exact opposite for me, Vista's fine but XP isn't. I only have three driver sets to choose from since it's such a new card and all have the same issues. Is anyone else having this problem in XP?

I dont have the card but neither do I have the problem, and im running XP Pro SP2 as well. It points to a driver issue with the graphics card :(

I was foolish enough to buy a 8600GT thinking it would improve things and got white triangles I contacted NVidia who are working on various problems with drivers for this card. In desperation I reinstalled my old 6600 and all is now well.

I just did some experimentation. A 7600GS in my machine with exactly the same drivers ( 162.18 ) is perfectly fine in XP. But I believe the same card will mess up in Vista.

The problem's very easy for me to reproduce, in the Irish Enterprise North route I'll always see them when navigating the curve into Botanic from Belfast Central.

So the GeForce 8s are bad for XP while the GeForce 7s are bad for Vista.
