Help please ! Have just hit the buffers - hard

Post by blueskiesworld2 »

Tried to reinstall Train Simulator this morning... 3 files refuse to install

train.exe

-109aa76c_y.raw

-109aa44c_e.raw

Would be very very grateful if anyone could zip these and send to me at blueskiesworld@aol.com.

I can never understand why Train Sim files are so delicate and routes often seem to need Route Riter etc. But it's all worth it in the end !

Many thanks.

I'd try cleaning the CD's with a soft cloth and trying a different drive (if you have more than one) Its bound to be a CD fault.

I'd also turn off your virus checking software whilst you try to install MSTS again.

You never know, it might be detecting a bit pattern in these files that it thinks is a virus.

Yes, the fact that Train.exe is mentioned lends credance to that.

Dunno about .raws though (I assume they are either an MSTS format, or that they are some kind of MS archive, which, again, could trip a virus scan if they looked LIKE zips (rars, cabs, tars, lzh's whatever) but weren't standard)

I have also had a simmilar problem before. The solution was (as mentioned above) just cleaning the disc.
