Unpacking Activities

Post by electric »

How do you unpack acticities. Maybe this could be made a sticky to help other beginners.

Are there any tools I need.

I'm starting with this one "EAST COAST MAINLINE ACTIVITY PACK"

I have train store installed but not the Bin patch

When I double click on the activity, it says it's "failed to open package". It's already in the eastcoast folder

Many thanks

when installed, you just need to double click the .apk file, and thats it.

Have you gone into the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Train Simulator\UTILS and dragged the packaged activity over the TSunpack?

Thanks

Cheers. Just tried following the instructions in the help file on the main UKtrainsim web-site and it says 'this package requires a route called EastCoast Express Parts 1&2, UID eb_eastcoast'

I haven't tried youridea, just keeping you up-to-date

Unfortunately that does not always work on some installations, thats what the fix fixes
once installed you dont need to "drag the packaged activity over the TSunpack"
you just need to double click the .apk file.

Still no luck, still giving me the 'it needs the route' error box, bith dragging it and just double clicking it.

UPDATE: I've just finished downloading and installing all the stock in the read me file, still no luck.

THANK YOU, problem solved. I had unstored everything manually, but it must of not done some of the stuff. THANK YOU.

Should I be asked to over-write loads of stuff like paths

If the activity author has made use of paths, services etc supplied with the original or by others, then you will get a prompt to overwrite. The safest method is to say no. This will ensure that you dont break any other activities you may have. The new activity should still work, as long as the author has been careful not to change any of the original stuff.
