Hi
It's a while since I installed this route but if I remember correctly, there were specific instructions on how to do so in the read me file - have you read it? If you follow these to the letter, it will install correctly.
Cheers
Ashley

I don't think you've followed the instructions properly. First, make sure you have all six default routes installed and available (i.e. not stored by Trainstore. Then download all three Thaxted files and place them in your MSTS Route folder. Then, unzip the first file named 'Thaxted.zip', using Winzip 8.1 or later - this will automatically unzip the other archives. Finally, go into the newly created 'Thaxted' route folder and run 'Installme.bat'.

Ash is right save for one thing - the default routes do not need to be UnStored. TrainStore only stores one of the route's pointer files (the .trk, I believe) so all the shapes and other content is still there for any BFI to read; it's only MSTS itself that will ignore it without the stored pointer.
My personal preference for installing routes like Thaxted is to unzip them all to a separate, temporary folder on the desktop - mine is called, imaginatively, 'Temp' - and then run the installer from there. I find this saves me cluttering up the MSTS folder with unnecessary installer files. Once the route is installed, delete the installers from the temp folder; I then save the original downloads to a DVD/RW for archiving.
In fact I've just realised that I don't have Thaxted installed on my laptop, so I'm about to reinstall - if I find troubles that need other than Ash's advice, I'll post again here.

Update:
Thaxted installed OK for me, but it must be extracted with WinZip 8.1 or better; 7-zip or the XP extractor will NOT work.
Make sure it installs to the Routes folder of your MSTS folder - mine defaulted to the main msts folder, but it's a simple matter to move it if necessary;
Remember to copy the Consist file into the Consists folder from the installer's 'Thaxted_Consists' folder in the Thaxted folder, and the GER R24 loco into Trainset;
Run the Installme.bat, and enjoy six miles of rural Essex.

I seem to remember you need to extract all the files to a seperate temp folder, then run the installer from there (spanned zips)
I don't think you can use the inbuilt WinXP unzipper.

Re: thaxted
You are correct there John. Thaxted is a spanned zip. See http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic.php?t=31801 for detailed instructions and again - Jon is correct the built in unzipper in Windows XP will not work.
Kindest regards

I wasnt using the inbuilt windows zipper I have used winrar and winzip and at least 50% of the files in the first zip are corrupted. All Im after is a working copy of the first file

In that case you need to email Matt (Neutronic) site admin.
He'll check the file on the server.
However I would try deleting the file you've downloaded, flush your internet cache, then try again.
windows has a habit of not re-downloading files it thinks it already has.
