Please confirm this by checking to see if it's still there, using Windows Explorer. If you followed all the instructions, all that should now be left is your new C:\Microsoft Games\Train Simulator installation.

Yes this is what I was referring to. As the ukfs .exe automatically finds msts.

Good luck

Not disagreement. More seeing other possibilities, this is why the forums work so well. Take Ash's extra post about Train Store when you were moving MSTS. It was me that flagged that up to him. (No trumpet blowing intended)

The more people working on your problem the better for you..

Good luck

And I'm very glad you did, Doug - I'd totally forgotten about TrainStore

In that case, I think it's safe to assume that your MSTS Registry is OK and that our cleaning operation has worked. Could you try re-installing UKfinescale? use the link Doug has provided on the previous page.

By rights, this should now install itself into the correct location, but see what happens and if it asks for the path.

I have now reinstalled UK Finescale. It went into the 'proper' file.

That's good news!

Ash,
I am posting replies, literally by return but they are not appearing in the forum.
About 40 minutes ago I told you that I can't create a consist as the BtB route is not appearing in Tools, Train Store or the main MSTS page.

Not sure what's happened to your messages Alan, but they have not appeared.

I can't think of any reason why you should not have BtB appearing in the routes window of Trainstore.

Use Windows Explorer to manually check your installation - does the BTB route appear in C:\Microsoft Games\Train Simulator\Routes?

If it's not, do a Windows search to see if the folder is somehow in a different location on your system.

Ash,
I have had a good search under Brum - nothing.
However, when I looked under BTB, I got the following message
'Name C:\Microsoft Games\Train Simulator\Routes\BTB in target box is not valid. EnsurePath and file are correct'.

Alan

When you say you "looked under BTB", how? What gave you the error message, as your Windows search apparently could not find the folder...?

I have to say I've never seen that one before, but I'd advise simply re-installing BTB.

Perhaps tomorrow, Ash, if at all. I really am getting fed up with what should be a simple route.

Alan

There's nothing wrong with the route.

It should be simple, but something is plainly awry with your installation if you cannot successfully install UKFinescale into it, particularly now that we have eliminated the issues caused by the Windows 7 security protocols.

We just need to get to the bottom of where the problem lies - I have the patience if you do.. :)

Ash,
Unless I'm thicker than originally thought, Finescale will ALWAYS go .into the Main MSTS Folder and NOT the route, will it not?
Once downloaded, it tells you where it's going and you can't change it's destination.
This is unlike other downloads such as (say) New Roads which can be sent anywhere that you tell it.

Does the Route 'pick up' the Finescale from main the main MSTS?
If so, why do I get the error messages?

No, UKfinescale track should install into the global\shapes folder, not the route folder or the main MSTS folder.

If we are to make progress, it would help if you could answer the questions I posed a few posts up, so we may get some clues.
