Re: Failed to Load Trackbase
Hi Alan,
Correct there is no installme.bat in the route folder. My fault for passing on advice with out checking the source first. Very sorry.
And asuming you have Finscale As linked by Yuri, above.( You should have as it was advised earlier in the thread by Mark).
With all those errors your route is not installed properly.
Did you 'Unstore Everthing' with train store as I suggested.
Here is MY BTB Folder in MY Routes Folder.
Compare it with yours. Do you have all those folders present.
Good luck
Doug

Re: Failed to Load Trackbase
Doug.
I did unstore everything as suggested.
I have checked my Route against yours and appear to have three more files than you!
They are Global,
A Clean Track X 5
BTB Patch
Does this cast any light on the problem.

Re: Failed to Load Trackbase
Hi Alan,
OK!
Well firstly 'Global' should be in your main Train Simulator folder.
COPY and paste to your desk top the Global Folder in your main Train Simulator folder.
Now open the Global folder in your BTB route and Copy/Paste all the Contents into the Global Folder in your Main Train Simulator folder. If you are asked, Do you want to overwrite? answer YES!
Try the route in explore mode.
Come back
Good luck
Doug

Re: Failed to Load Trackbase
Doug,
Our last correspondences must have crossed.
However, I did as you said with the Global Files although I couldn't see the point of creating a Folder on the Desktop because you then told me to transfer the BrisB Golbals to the Main MSTS Globals.
What then, was the created folder for?
Any rate it still doesn't work. Still getting the quoted last messages.

Re: Failed to Load Trackbase
Hi Alan,
You did make the Backup didn't you?
Because if you didn't, you will now have to check that a Default Route works Correctly. You may have possibly destroyed the Global Folder and along with it the MSTS installation.
If you did make the back up. Copy/Paste it back into the main Train Simulator folder. To put you back to where you were.
The errors you mentioned are texture files for ukfs have you installed correctly the download Yuri linked to?
Good luck
Doug
That will be the BACKUP. Always make a Backup in case things go belly up.brooke1 wrote:What then, was the created folder for?

Re: Failed to Load Trackbase
I got up this morning and printed out the whole of this correspondence, uninstalled the route that we'd been working on and started again, watching each advisory step by yourself and others along the way.
The result was exactly the same.
The BtB route appears in Activity Editor, Route Riter and Train Store but when I try to run it, it stops in the middle with yet more hundreds of error manages which are too numerous to list.
Mostly refer to track, ukfs and shapes.
I really cannot go on and have just scrapped the lot.
Unless someone can talk me throught this one like the idiot I appear to be, I have to admit defeat.
Aln.

Re: Failed to Load Trackbase
Hi Alan,
Then this:-
Is not installed correctly.
When you Double Click the 'UKTS_11889_ukfs_v3.1.6_full.exe' from the download, check that it points to your MSTS main folder (Where Ash guided you through moving it to).
I do not know if the permissions issue with Win7 is a factor here. As I do not use that OS (Still using XP).
All the info reguarding that is here:- http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewforum.php?f=273 or ask a specific Question.
Good luck
Doug

Re: Failed to Load Trackbase
Hi Doug and Alan
Permissions should no longer be an issue because Alan's MSTS installation in now directly off the C: drive, where the W7 security protocols do not apply.
Alan - I'd follow Doug's sage advice and re-install UKfinscale to your new, default MSTS location.
Please don't give up now, now that we've come so far in getting you sorted?

Re: Failed to Load Trackbase
Hi Ash & Alan,
ASH:
As I say I have no experience with W7 or Vista for that matter.
Alan:
Have you removed the MSTS from it's original location. I say that because the ukfs installer finds the MSTS folder automatically. Use Add/Remove programs.
Good luck
Doug
ASH:
Thank you for clarifying that.ashgray wrote:Permissions should no longer be an issue because Alan's MSTS installation in now directly off the C: drive, where the W7 security protocols do not apply.

Re: Failed to Load Trackbase
NO, using add/remove will remove not only the current MSTS entries, but also registry entries. If there are residual files left in an old MSTS installation inside Program Files, simply navigate to that folder in Explorer and delete.douglee wrote: Have you removed the MSTS from its original location. If MSTS has been re-installed and now resides outside Program Files, UKFS's installer will find it as the registry values are set on MSTS installation.

Re: Failed to Load Trackbase
I am now being confused by disagreements in the ranks.
I have enough problems with BtB without these.
Which way do I go.

Re: Failed to Load Trackbase
Hi Alan
With great respect to Doug, I think Yuri's right. Following our session the other day, your original MSTS folder (which you had installed to C:\program files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Train Simulator) should now be gone. Please confirm this by checking to see if it's still there, using Windows Explorer. If you followed all the instructions, all that should now be left is your new C:\Microsoft Games\Train Simulator installation.
Come back and let me know please, and we'll take things form there.
Ash

Re: Failed to Load Trackbase
Ash,
I checked and although the old Train Simulator Folder was still in x86, it only contained the AceIt file which I have transferred to the 'proper' new file and deleted the rest, an empty file.

Re: Failed to Load Trackbase
Hmm... that's odd. With only one MSTS installation, the UKFS files should have automatically installed to the correct folder in your new installation without confusion. I wonder if any of the old registry files still exist?
To test this possibility, try installing an add-on route on CD, if you have one. it doesn't matter which, and you don't need to go through the entire routine or actually re-install it - I'm just keen to see where the disk "thinks" your MSTS installation path is.
Could you please try such an install and cancel at the stage where it asks you for your MSTS path, make a note of the exact path and come back here?
Ash

Re: Failed to Load Trackbase
Ash,
I tried Burton-Derby and it wanted to go to the 'new' folder, i.e. C:\Microsoft Games\Train Simulator.
