Re: Problems with the Bristol to Birmingham Route Activites
Hi Ged
I downloaded the "BR King Late Multipack Version 1.1 [01 Sep 2010]" on 18/01/2011 and it is that version which is installed in C: Having checked again, the six #A1 files are there - "#BR_Green_6003.eng" "#BR_Green_6005.eng" "#BR_Green_6012.eng" "#BR_Green_6015.eng" "#BR_Green_6017.eng" and "#BR_Green_6028.eng" and I've removed the folder I created "GWR_Class_6000" after erroneously reading the original "Readme" file instead of the "Multipack Readme"! So I still don't understand why the error messages pop up as soon as the Scot leaves the shed?

Re: Problems with the Bristol to Birmingham Route Activites
Assuming you have some knowledge of the Activity Editor, you could just remove the service that uses 6028. Hopefully someone here can resolve your problem without having to come to that, though. I am out of ideas. Oh! Did you verify the starting state in the Act Editor? That would give a clue. My only other idea is a memory overflow. Sometimes if the route isn't working exactly right the activities are affected. Do you still have the display settings to a low setting?

Hi Cody
So grateful you took time out to talk - sorry, I didn't recognise "cwil"l as you earlier.
Yes the main Display settings are three notches below top whack and under Advanced Display I've even turned down some of the other settings, trying to deplete visual quality of scenery rather than lose visual quality of stock.
I've never used the Activity Editor to be honest with you, as I've always preferred to leave the fine work you guys put together as you meant it to be written. So, let's get to grips with it here - where do I start?
Regards
Eric

Re: Problems with the Bristol to Birmingham Route Activites
Okay, Eric, First you must launch the editor by going to the program folder in the Start Menu (do windows 's have those still?). Click on "Train Simulator Editors & Tools."
You will see four tabs. Click on "Activity Editor."
You will be brought to a big layout of buttons and menus. Don't be intimidated!
Next click "File," then "Open" on the drop-down box.
Navigate into the "BTB\ACTIVITIES" folder. Select "cw royal scot to brum"
Once it loads, you should verify the starting state. Click on it (it's under the TOOLS tab at the top of the window).
If you get any errors post and let us see to get a better idea.

Hi Eric,
Too many cooks here will throw you, so I will bow out until I am needed.
Good luck

Hi Cody,
Wondered why there was no Royal Scot
Please ignore my last post! I will try the correct one next time - after I've had a sleep!

Re: Problems with the Bristol to Birmingham Route Activites
Hi Cody
Yes, even in Windows 7 - however, I locate and launch - but all that happens is that get a big black screen and an error message - "Error reading train database file - File Trains\Trainset\NWC_101_BlueGrey\NWC_101_DMBS_BG.eng"
When I first hit the launch I thought I saw a message flash by that indicated the MSTS Patch 1.4 wasn't functioning correctly! However, I have installed the latest patch - Patch 1.7.051922.

Don't worry about it. Get your sleep, try again (hopefully error free!), and--well come back if you have any more issues. Out of curiosity, what activity were you testing?

Re: Problems with the Bristol to Birmingham Route Activites
Hi Cody,
I have now completed the Royal Scot to Birmingham activity, without any problems, although I did arrive more than 5 minutes late! Thanks are due to Clive for his steam driving tutorial activity on the S & D, which resulted in my completing the Lickey Bank climb at a speed not less than 12mph and without using the sanders. It may not be good by some members' standards, but I was quite happy
The activity I was running, by mistake, was Martin Pope's 'Double Header to Brum'. My excuse is that it appears just above yours in the list of activities, and I clicked on the wrong one
Many thanks for this activity - plenty of AI traffic and quite challenging to keep anywhere near the scheduled timetable!
Cheers,
Ged

Re: Problems with the Bristol to Birmingham Route Activites
Hi Cody and Ged
Could I have found a solution to my problems? Ref "BR diagram 506 Long wheelbase Brakevans." - id 14806.
Ian Macmillan's readme clearly states, "Drag, Copy or Move the folder BR_D506_Brakevan to your Trainset folder; usually c\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Train Simulator\TRAINS\TRAINSET. You are now ready to create a consist containing this model by using the Activity Editor supplied with Microsoft Train Simulator - the model will not be available in the simulator unless you do this.
Do I take it then that as I cannot access my Activity Editor (as explained previously above) and obviously have not created a Consist, that this could be the reason so many of the Activities are playing up?
Regards
Eric

Hi Eric,
I'm really sorry to hear that - I do mean it!
It could be down to the capabilities of your PC - sorry if you've already given its specs elsewhere, but if you could post them here, we could probably identify where it is lacking resources.
Cheers,
Ged
EDIT : regarding your last post regarding the brakevan - No, the consist is already created within the activity.

Re: Problems with the Bristol to Birmingham Route Activites
Hi Ged
Thanks. I've now some more news. Having previously been unable to start Activity Editor, I've just clicked on it and it has started. So I've carried Cody's instructions as above and have ascertained that the start time for the Royal Scot to Birmingham Activity is at 12.06. That's all he asked me to do so far. There were no errors shown. I've got a big panel showing the activity as a colourful route.
