Hi Steve,

Yes, it is possible, but it is quite a hefty route, which would probably require TrainStore to work reliably anyway. There are instructions on this site, but I'm sorry but I don't know the location.
Once you know how to run from the Mini-Route, it is very straightforward. Note that at least one up-coming route will use the Mini-Route approach, due to its size.

Cheers,
Ged

I copied my BC1 miniroute to my normal MSTS folder, but now use the mini route directly.
I believe that you need to copy from the mini route into your normal MSTS Train Simulator folder the following folders- Route, Global and Trains
However it is almost certain that it will not work in the MSTS folder without using Train Store.
If you are used to Train Store then running the route from the Train Simulator folder should not present any problems; I am not certain myself that one method is easier than the other.

Hi Ged

Thanks for your step by step guide to starting BC1. I did it exactly as you suggested, and lo and behold the darn thing started!!!

However, as soon as the chosen activity loaded, the whole pc crashed - hung and burned - locked me out - I had to swirtch it off at the mains and then restart from scratch!

Wow! Some programme that Black Country Route! Dynamite!

I'll give it another go, but I'm standing back on this one!

Hi Eric,
Sorry to hear that your PC decided it'd had enough!
As installed, BC1 is complete and doesn't require any other stock to run, so the fault cannot be because of faulty items. The only reason I could think of was that your PC is lacking sufficient resources to run MSTS, which may be caused by too many other programs running, or, if not that, it is short on memory. Have you installed MSTSBin? This has improved MSTS memory management, which may help.

Cheers,
Ged

I use a little program called EndItAll which turns off unnecessary programs running unseen on your PC. This frees up capacity to help run more complex Train Simulator routes.

Hi Ged and All You Other Gentlemen

Thanks for all the various pieces of advice.

I did as Ged suggested and worked my way through the mini-loader procedure. It worked, insomuch that we got to the MSTS "Drive a Train" screen. I then again selected the Activity I had decided upon, and we go through the start-up pricedure. But as soon as we get into the loco cab and press the top right "x" to close the F11 dialogue box - we receive a burst of steam sound and we end up back on the desktop - rejected once again!

I have reduced all my memory demands (as outlined on my other posts to "Problems with the Bristol to Birmingham Route") and have also attempted to turn on the "Memory Switch" suggested by Moi. All to no avail it appears! I'll just have to content myself with Don Hinton's Cannock Chase 5 Route once more.

Regards to all,

Eric

Have you done the settings within the BC mini-route as well as on your main installation? You may need to adjust those seperately.

Hi all. I had that. Closing the F11 dialogue box dumped me. Drove me round the bend. After I reduced the sounds by one notch mine run Ok. Hope it works for you. CU another Eric
